A little explanation might be in order.  My muse exists in music.   Logic maps the story, but music gives it its soul and sends my characters in directions that surprise even me. what I'm left with is an eclectic handful of songs that—in my thoughts—relate to certain scenes or more typically, relationships between characters.  Some authors cast their books with popular actors/actresses.   I'd rather cast the music as it connects more directly to my creative process.  Below are a few of the songs I think suit the Hollows.  Have a suggestion?  Feel free to jump on over to the Hollows Playlist

What I'm listening to: Drink You Sober by Bitter:Sweet

~~~~~~~~ Rachel ~~~~~~~~
The songs I've found that I feel relate to Rachel cover a wonderfully wide span.  Recently, a new-to-me band, Coldplay has captured my attention, and "Lost" seems to fit Rachel pretty well.  (I really like this group.)  And in regards to her love life, "I'm not Over" by Carolina Liar is a nice fit.  "Believe" by The Bravery, has captured my attention in regards to Rachel's latest fix with Al.  And since the release of The Outlaw Demon Wails, I can share with you the song "Temptation" by Garbage.  But possibly the closest song I've found that fits her future is from NIN, "The Line Begins To Blur."  Breaking Benjamin's "Breathe," seems to capture Rachel after Kisten almost perfectly.  After seeing the "Lithium" video from Evanescence, I was full of thoughts of Rachel in the Ever-After.
On her lighter, push-on-regardless attitude, Fiona Apple's "Extraordinary Machine" casts a fantastic light.  Going back a ways is Alice Cooper's "Own Worst Enemy," which casts a good light on her day-to-day mishaps.  One that ties in with Trent is "Metal Heart" by Garbage.  "Have You Ever" by The Offspring, and "Save Yourself" from Stabbing Westward are also good for getting a feel for Rachel.  "Passive" off A Perfect Circle's eMOTION fits her, though I'm torn yet as to who else it relates too.  "Magic Carpet Ride" by Steppenwolf fits her pretty well on a good day.  I'd be willing to make it her theme song for a while. ;-)
As her story progresses, NiN's "Down in it" has a special meaning, as does "Kinda I Want To" and "Sin."  "Suicide Note" by Johnette Napolitano on the Underworld soundtrack has begun to cast shadows on Ivy and Rachel's ever evolving, complex relationship.  And "Thinking of You," by A Perfect Circle has whispers of Rachel and Ivy in it.   As she finds herself pulled deeper into the Hollow's underworld, "Fields of Innocence" by Evanescence seems to fit more and more.
~~~~~~~~ Ivy ~~~~~~~~

Ivy's character is one of the most complex I've ever tried to sketch with my pen, and she's claimed a correspondingly large portion of music.  I understand her motivations, but she remains a mystery to even me at times, a confusing mix of human vulnerabilities and vampiric drives.

Most recently I found a song by Cake, "Short Skirt/Long Jacket" that made me smile and think of Ivy.  Death Cab For Cutie, "I will Possess Your Heart" is another one.  It seems to hit Ivy's mindset concerning Rachel, whether Rachel agrees or not.  On the other side of Ivy is "Pearls" by Sade From the smooth silky jazz sound to the soulful lyrics of a woman struggling to be . . . who she wants to be, it has Ivy all over it.  Thanks to my link to "all things cool and musical," I found a Garbage track, "Never Be Free" that just about knocked me down at how well it resonated with Ivy and her thoughts on Rachel.  Going back to a few near-past albums, I found "Wish" from NIN to be an excellent fit for Ivy's frustrations--especially on a bad day.  Stabbing Westward and their track "What Do I have To Do?" is scrumptious at nailing Ivy's inner dilemma.  "So What" by Jeff Beck hits her other side.  The power, the intensity.  It's all there in a sleek black package.  Yummy.

"Faint" by Linkin Park, "Silhouettes" by Smile Empty Soul, and "Everybody's Fool" were all all suggested by readers, (I'm sorry, I can't remember who) and now that I've had a chance to get a good listen, I wholeheartedly agree.  Kip Winger's "Faster" has Ivy all over it.  NiN's "Terrible lie" "Sanctified" and "Something I Can Never Have" are good matches to the plot lines, too.  "Gravity" by A Perfect Circle is a good, too, but it's a bit too collected, not quite confused enough. Evanescence's "Away from Me" gave me chills at how close it fit Ivy's predicament.

Ivy's fall from grace I first heard in Duran Duran's, "Save a Prayer."  (Okay, now you're laughing at me or sitting there with a puzzled look wondering who Duran Duran is.  I told you it was an eclectic stack of music.)  And I saw who pushed her into falling after hearing Evanescence's "Going Under."

Finally, there have been a few songs that relate to both Rachel and Ivy, but the one that I feel captures the situation best has got to be "My Immortal" by Evanescence.  The power and depth of that piece of music has left a mark on me, and won't let go.

~~~~~~~~ Jenks ~~~~~~~~
Track ten on the Ocean's Eleven soundtrack, "Planting the Seed," fits Jenks flitting about as a gardener.  Thanks to Tim from Tenn., I found "Peter Gunn" done by Henry Mancini.  It fits fantastically.  (Think The Blues Brothers)  Jenks's son, Jax, gets into trouble thanks to "Red-Tape" from Agent Provocateur, which is also on the Underworld soundtrack.  And please don't write to tell me the song isn't really about little thieves.  Inspiration is where you find it.   ;-)
~~~~~~~~ Kisten ~~~~~~~~

"Thinking of You," by A Perfect Circle seems to fit Kisten.  Also from A Perfect Circle is "Weak and Powerless."   But the best fit for Kisten I've found so far is "Never Say Never," from Queens of the Stone Age off the Punisher soundtrack  The depth of that piece is hidden by the ego-testical attitude of the refrain--just like Kisten's depth is shrouded under a carefully constructed front to disarm and beguile.  NiN's "The Only Time" fits a plot line that Kisten wiggled his way into.

~~~~~~~~ Kisten & Rachel ~~~~~~~~
With the advent of certain events in the books, Kisten's music has taken a definite turn.  Breathe by Breaking Benjamin fits really, really well as a way to capture Rachel's emotions.  Gave me goose bumps.
~~~~~~~~~ Trent ~~~~~~~~~

I'm slowly finding music to fit Trent's outlook on life and his goals.  Most recently, I've found "DOA" by the Foo Fighters, which at first I though had a too-upbeat feel, but Trent's got to have a good day occasionally, and the line "dancing with the bones of my buried past" just hit me as extremely apropos.  Going back to some early Police, "Murder by Numbers" seems to work well.  "Untouchable" by Garbage works with Trent, too.  A piece of music off the Queen of the Damned soundtrack fits Trent Kalamack fairly well, especially the lyrics that Stephanie McKay sings.  Try track 13, "Excess" by Tricky.  If Trent believes in anything, it's people.  "Guilty" by Gravity Kills and  "The American Way" by The Crystal Method hits his drug-lord persona perfectly.

~~~~~~~~~ Takata ~~~~~~~~~
Oddly enough, I'm just now starting to find music that evokes Takata to me.  Perhaps because he is my musician?  Anyway, Nickelback's "Rockstar" is perfect.  Especially the line, "Trade this life for fortune and fame."  Dig a little farther back, and the Eagles "Life's Been Good" (to me so far) hits Takata, very nicely.  I've always loved that song, and now I have an excuse to play it to death.  (grin)
~~~~~~~~~ Newt ~~~~~~~~~

Newt is absolutely nuts, which has no reflection on the bands that I've found to relate to her.  ;-)  Guy told me about Ozzy Osbourne's latest, and after listening to "I'm Not Going Away" I totally agree with his assessment that it is Newt from front to back.  Two more that bring Newt to mind are NiN's "Only" and "Every Day is Exactly the Same."  I'm expecting more from this character, so I'm curious myself as to what is going to show up here to reflect on Newt.

~~~~~~~~~ Piscary ~~~~~~~~~
A fellow music aficionado suggested "Sympathy for the Devil" by Guns and Roses, and after playing it to death, I realized it cast wonderful shadows on Piscary, one of Cincinnati's Master vampires, though you will all have to wait until book two to see what I mean.  "Pet" and "Lullaby" by A Perfect Circle strike close to home with Piscary as well in regards to warping his scions.  Piscary's restaurant after Kisten assumes management brings to mind Rob Zombie's "Living Dead Girl."  Think line-dancing vampires.  Yes.  Line-dancing vampires.  I only hope Rob will forgive me.
~~~~~~~~ Big Al ~~~~~~~~

I finally found a piece of music that reminded me of Big Al, my demon in crushed green velvet and smoked glasses.  Try "Mr. Tinkertrain" by Ozzy Osbourne.

~~~~~~~~~~ Nick ~~~~~~~~~~
It took a while, but I'm finally nailing down a few pieces of music that I can relate to Nick.  From Kip Winger, comes "Sure was a Wildflower."  "That's What I Get" from NiN works really well, too.
~~~~~~~~~~ Ceri ~~~~~~~~~

Audioslave's "Doesn't Remind Me" casts shadows on Ceri and her efforts to resume a normal life after her servitude.

~~~~~~~~ Seduction ~~~~~~~~
As the plotlines progress, I'm finding myself collecting a few pieces of music of seduction, and in the spirit of avoiding spoilers, I'm not saying whom they relate to.  Dipping wa-a-a-ay back, I found Sting's "I Burn for You," which has a hidden thread of evil in it if you are looking (subtle . . .) and a crystalline purity that gives it a delicious threat.  Evanescence's "Even in Death," which is terribly tragic.  But in my thoughts, I have yet to find a more seductive piece of music than "New Years Prayer" by Jeff Buckley off his sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk.  Sigh. You may have heard it before as it's used as the beginning music for The Dead Zone, but the real thing is oh so much more (languorous stretch) seductive. . . .  Also from Jeff Buckley is "Lilac Wine" which has all the markings of an old jazz song, and "You and I."
~~~~~~~~ The Ever-After ~~~~~~~~

I found, thanks to The-Guy-In-The-Leather-Jacket, a piece of music that is remarkably close to my idea of the ever-after.  A Perfect Circle's remake of Lennon's "Imagine."  Think of a red-smeared sky and a broken city skyline, and you've just about got it.

Hi Kim! I have a suggestion for your songlist. AWIM "Kill Me" Love the song and I think you cuold too! you can find it on youtube or their Myspace page. Lyrics are as follows: Loving your dream, carrying your pain. Watching me going slowly to my grave. Didn't know you, didn't know you. Sipping hatred in a glass of milk. Injecting fears in my brittle little veins. Didn't know you, didn't know you. Talking nonsense to me, I wish i could believe. Living me untended so little left to give. Chorus: Kill me I'm a monster you made me cruel but I'm not a failure. Kill me I'm a monster I beg you now cause I'm not a killer. Heal me I'm a monster You spill my blood cause I'm just a dreamer. Kill me I'm a monster You made me cry it will soon be over. Kill me I'm a monster You made me cruel but I'm not a failure. Kill me I'm a monster You made me cry it will soon be over. Floating in your dream driven by your aim. Faking to be in laughing at my pain. laughing at my pain. Needed just a ride with a lovely maid. Sifting trough your light tearing me to shreds. Blood's coming to my head.

Save me, oh save me, save me from myself, before I hurt somebody else again....." Opening line of the song. I think of Rachel every time I hear it. Definitely should find it to listen to it. Xandria has some good songs in their last album that would fit with some of things the characters are going through. Nightwish is always great for some epic songs as well as Epica. Beauty in Black by Coronatus would describe Ivy especially after the incident with Piscary.

06 Jul 2009

my suggestion is "Blue on Black" by Kenny Wayne Shepherd, "Dark Night" by The Blasters, and "Road House Blues" by The Doors. ~alyssa~

06 Jul 2009

I have a few suggestions for your music list. The Gathering: Third Chance (alternate version), When the Sun Hits, In the Power We Entrust the Love Advocated Within Temptation: Somewhere (live version, with Anneke from the Gathering), Memories, Angels Nightwish: Amaranth and Cadence of Her Last Breath The Fallen: Bury Me Alive (brand spankin' new- got the download from their web site)

06 Jul 2009

I think for Ivy and Rachel the best song would be Godsmack:Serenity

05 Jul 2009

Ever since I started watching True Blood, their theme works really well for Ivy looking onto Rachel: Bad Things by Jace Everett :) in my opinion

02 Jul 2009

There are a few bands that come time mind Blitzkid, The Other, and The Spook. Definitely check them out.

02 Jul 2009

Queens of the stone age has a song called "into the hallows"... Its a perfect piece as a theme song for the books..

01 Jul 2009

SEE WHO I AM - WITHIN TEMPTATION ~~~ this makes me think of Rachel, it really speaks to Rachels strength

30 Jun 2009

I think that aphrodisiac by bow wow wow is a good song about the rush and lust that Rachel feels when she was involved with kistin

29 Jun 2009

Hey Kikm i think the song "Don't Give Up" by Esham is a good match for Ivy. Its a dark song that tells how hard life can be for everyone with problems with death but tells you to still have hope things will get better. Its acid rap so its hip hop and death metal. -Navarr

Hello Kim I find that the song "Run Baby Run" by Garbage is perfect for Rachel's feelings ... I am crazy about it >< Bye Bye Léa B. a french fan =D

28 Jun 2009

Hey Kim! My favourite song of the week: Tonight by FM Static! I think it fits just fine for Rachel after Kisten. I dreamed about this song! So weird... - Chrisy

25 Jun 2009

I don't know if anyone's suggested it, but every time I hear "I Don't Care" by Apocalyptica ft. Adam Gontier, I'm reminded of Ivy and Piscary. This stanza, in particular, reminds me of how much Ivy tried to please him and protect Rachel at the same time: "I try to make you see my side/ Always trying to stay in line/ But your eyes see right through/ That's all they do." Also, "I try to make it through my life, in my way, there's you/ I try to make it through these lies, and that's all I do," reminds me of how Ivy keeps trying to be Ivy, but Piscary keeps forcing her to come back in order to be his scion. :D -Samantha

24 Jun 2009

Hi Kim! When I was listening to music the other day, I noticed that a lot of these seemed to remind me of Ivy and Rachel. "Pet" by A Perfect Circle "Before I'm Dead" by kidneythieves "If I Was Your Vampire" by Marilyn Manson "The Perfect Drug" by NIN "Fragile" by NIN "You Look So Fine" by Garbage "Burn You Down" by Opitate for the Masses "Slept So Long" by Jay Gordon And I noticed that whenever I listen to Apocalyptica or Adam Hurst my thoughts often tend revolve around Ivy.

24 Jun 2009

Lee Aaron's Metal Queen (circa 1984) I think is perfect for Ivy.

24 Jun 2009

Hi Kim! I was listening to the song "Tonight" by the Austrian band "3 Feet Smaller" and reading the fifth Rachel Morgan book. And, I don't know why, but it totally fit. The lyrics kind of remind me of someone (Kisten? Ivy?) explaining themselves about how they feel about Rachel. Or something. It's just a goosebumb situation I guess. Anyway, have a nice day, greetings Bettina.

21 Jun 2009

Woman in Chains by Tears for Fears - This is one of my all-time favorite songs. It kinda makes me think of Ivy in her relationship with Piscary and how she is all tangled up with him and has a bitter acceptance until Rachel is squarely in the cross hairs. - April W.

19 Jun 2009

you're right thanks to kim for this and thanks to you all guys i owe you a great lot! great taste in musik! did anyone mentioned 'devil's gotta hold on me' by the colour yet? this song is so al to me. yeah. -chrisy

19 Jun 2009

thank you for this sites ^^ i found many new favourtie songs XD I'm thinking about Ivy and the song Skillet - thirst is taking over it sounds like the realtionship between ivy and rachel (if this isn't right I'm sorry but I only read till 4 (5 lays in front of me and released one week ago ))

19 Jun 2009

Ivy to Rachel/ Ivy's attempt to describe Rachel- "The Girl All The Bad Guys Want" by Bowling For Soup. That pretty much sums up Rachel's personna and Ivy's unending struggle with her. LOL!

18 Jun 2009

Thanks so much for sharing the music that inspires your writing! I have fallen in love with Jeff Buckley's music since reading this page for the first time about a month ago. Thanks for the nod in that direction. I don't know if it has been suggested but I heard Pink's song 'Crystal Ball' for the first time while I was reading WWBC and it just screamed Rachel to me.

17 Jun 2009

I think you should look up songs from Epica theyre very good, plusXandria- Save My Life is a good one to,

17 Jun 2009

okay, notsure if this totallyits but Ozzy Obourne's "You're no different" seems to come to mind when you think about the demons (especially Al) and Rachel - its almost as if Al might sing it just to piss Rachel off about the whole being a demon thing ....or it could just be my crazy ramblings again - Raven V""""V

17 Jun 2009

ivy - Evanescence's "listen to the rain"

17 Jun 2009

La Rox's "in for the kill" thi song seemed like a perfect theme song for Rachel as she totally loses it at the end of WWBC...and fits perfect with the strangeness with Ivy "i'm going in for the kill, doing it for a thrill"?-totally Rachel ;) "..don't let go of my hand..." creepy huh? -Raven V""""V

16 Jun 2009

for big al: "devils food" by alice cooper, for rachel: "the pretender" by the Foo fighters, for ivy: "only" by anthrax, for jenks: "the thrill of it" by robert randolph

16 Jun 2009

Avril Lavigne: "Losing Grip" seems to fit Rachel pretty well, It's almost as if Rachel is singing it to Nick!

15 Jun 2009

Since Jenks is such a perv, any song done by the group Brothel. I can see him dancing around the church and in Rachel's car singing songs lkie "Favorite Things", "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap", and "I'm that cunt". Yeah, they're very vulgar songs but I was reading one scene where Jenks was being a perv to Rache and "Favorite Things" started playing. It was SO Jenks. lol

15 Jun 2009

Hey, Kim! I just found this band "Titanium Black". One of my friends let me burn his CD of it. They have a song called "Perfect Love", I heard it and it really, for me anyway, summed up Rachel and Ivy after Kisten's death. They both blame themselves and know that all they need is love, but their afraid of it. I think that song is perfect for them.

14 Jun 2009

It's completely ridiculous, but I heard 'When I Grow Up' by the Pussycat Dolls on the radio, and I'd just finished WWBC, so I vaguely wondered how Jenks would take it, and bust out laughing. The song is so horribly vulgar, I could just imagine him strutting around on Rachel's dash, miming a pair of ginormous boobs and gyrating to the music. Bwuahaha! -Samantha

14 Jun 2009

hey... I like the original verson of 'trekka' by puscifer better. but it's definately perfect for seduction. everything by maynard is. <3 you. *gfg*

12 Jun 2009

When it comes to Glen and tomatos definately "dirty little secret" by all american rejects. ~Ash

12 Jun 2009

When I think of Ivy I think of "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd When I think of Slimmer I her "Crazy Bitch" by Buckcherry.

12 Jun 2009

"Momma Sed" (Tandimonium Mix) and "Trekka" (Desert Porn Mix) by Puscifer are just perfect Seduction songs. Never fail to send a shiver down my spine... :-) Sabrina

First and foremost I want to say that I absolutely love your books, I haven't been able to put a single one down, nor have I been disappointed once. I have a rather large collection of music, and after visiting the site, and reading about the music, and listening to my own... I have found quite a few songs that I think would fit nicely with your characters, but I will let you decide who they belong too. Forgiven - Within Temptation... I find this to be a very strong and emotional song, has made me cry listening to it Frozen - Within Temptation... another song I find riveting in a way... it is another strong song that I listen to a lot The Flame - Cheap Trick Save Me - Edguy... This song is about having the feeling that someone you barely know... will save your life... or something about you Who Wants to Live Forever - Queen... song says it all... a moving piece of music Here Without You - 3 Doors Down I Never Cry - Alice Cooper Long, Long Way To Go - Def Leppard... This song, I will have to say belongs to Rachel after losing Kisten... and her having to cope with his death/murder Torn to Shreds - Def Leppard... umm... well, heh.. I would just listen to it :) Alone - Heart Love's Tragedy Asunder - Demon's and Wizards 1000 Words - Final Fantasy X-2... Yes I know, it's a song from a video game... but the long and slow version says so much about Rachel and Kisten... and Ivy... it's a very pretty and sad song I believe Some songs by a Metal band called Kamelot... Abandoned, Moonlight, The Light I Shine on You, Temples of Gold, and Anthem What Hurts the Most - Rascal Flatts... This is a song that fights so very well with Rachel when Kisten is killed Last Words You Said - Sarah Brightman and my last song... is Halo by Beyonce... I hope you get a chance to listen to my list, I would love to hear what you think of them please let me know, I would be honored to get your take on what I think are emotianal and moving songs for your books... E-mail: Eradochjuraviel@yahoo.com

Please, go check out this nice Pagan group, "Omnia" at www.myspace.com/omnianeocelt (I hope that's right, "myspace" is blocked at work). Anyway, you simply MUST download "Witches Brew - the #3 song on their downloadable album). Seriously cool Rock & Roll, with words by Bill Shakespeare. (Think: MacBeth/Witches and Heavy Metal). Very cool. Nice, agressive, driving in the car music too. :-) Blessed Be! - George Stateson -

10 Jun 2009

Music is the soul of writing, and I have a few songs that make me thing of your characters. "Turn off the light" by Nelly Furtado, really makes me thing of Ivy. Being strong on the outside, yet has her inner darkness. Even though it's been mentioned "Snow White queen" by Evanescence makes me thing of Ivy's relationship with Piscary. And "Master Passion greed" "For the heart I once had" by Nightwish also makes me think of Ivy for some reason. "You're gonna go far, kid" by the Off Spring Makes me think of Rachel, especially "A thousand lies and a good disguise, hit em right between the eyes! Hit em right between the eyes! When you walk away, nothing more to say. See the lightning in your eyes, see em running, for their lives! That's all I got so far. My mom and sister got me into you're books, and now I'm addicted. Please don't stop writing, you've helped inspire me so much.

For Ivy to Rachel - Criminal by Distrubed off of Indestructible. First verse: "Criminal this suffering, it makes me think like a criminal this suffering when we're alone". It goes on from there, but it makes me think of Ivy's internal struggle when it's just her and Rachel in the church.

05 Jun 2009

For Ivy & Rachel - 37 Stitches by Drowning Pool " I know you are the only one - my little taste of heaven and you know I am the only one - your bitter taste of hell"

05 Jun 2009

Al's theme song is Upon Wings of Black by the band Skeletonwitch Ivy and Rachel's them song should be Crawl through Knives by In Flames

05 Jun 2009

"Eyes of the Devil" by Seether for Rachel with Big Al. Part of Lyrics:So with every new lesson learned, I could keep you before it turns, And the knowledge that things won't be the same,Now I realize that you have won, And there's nothing to be said or done, And I notice the wind won't blow my way So run with the eyes of the devil, And keep them in your dreams, If you succumb to the lies of the rebel, You'll cleanse yourself of me It kills me to watch this fade, And I realize it's all charade, And every mistake I make is the same, I beseech you to let me drown, Will it please you to let me down, And no one can save me from the pain

04 Jun 2009

I Get Off by Halestorm for Kisten and Ivy's relationship. Familiar Flavor of Poison by Halestorm for Rachel and Kisten's relationship especially after what happens to Kisten. Heck it would fit for Ivy's grief also: Drink the wine, My darling you said. Take your time, And consume all of it. Let the roses, Only to drain my inspiration. The promises, Was born before they left your lips. (Chorus:) I breath you in again Just to feel you. Underneath my skin, Holding on to. The sweet escape, Is always laced with a, Familiar taste, Of poison. I tell myself, That you're no good for me. I wish you well, But desire never leaves. I can fight this to the end, But maybe I don't wanna win. (Chorus:) I breath you in again, Just to feel you. Underneath my skin, Holding on to. The sweet escape, Is always laced with a, Familiar taste, Of poison. I don't wanna be saved, I don't wanna be saved, And I, Want you on my mind. In my dreams, Behind these eyes, And i, Wanna wake up, No, not this time. (Chorus:) I breath you in again, Just to feel you. Underneath my skin, Holding on to. The sweet escape, Is always laced with a, Familiar taste, Of poison. A familiar taste, Of poison. A familiar taste, Of poison.

04 Jun 2009

One song I think fits Ivy well is "Who I Am Hates Who I've Been," by Relient K, especially her feelings on being a vampire and blood lust. ~Elle

03 Jun 2009

I would suggest "Ms. Fortune" by Injected for either Rachel or Ivy. -Cal

03 Jun 2009

"Energize Me" by After Forever is a song that comes into my head whenever Kisten or Ivy played on Rachel's scar.

03 Jun 2009

Algaliarept (Big Al) - "Gimme" by Alice Cooper from his Brutal Planet album.

02 Jun 2009

Piscary - 'Wait for the Blackout' by The Damned

01 Jun 2009

May it be by Enya for Rachel or Ivy "Mornie útulie (darkness has come) believe and you will find your way."

01 Jun 2009

question: does kim read that all?

31 May 2009

Breathe Me by Sia The lyrics fit Rachel almost perfectly. "Help, I have done it again I have been here many times before Hurt myself again today And, the worst part is there's no-one else to blame Be my friend Hold me, wrap me up Unfold me I am small and needy Warm me up And breathe me Ouch I have lost myself again Lost myself and I am nowhere to be found, Yeah I think that I might break Lost myself again and I feel unsafe Be my friend Hold me, wrap me up Unfold me I am small and needy Warm me up And breathe me"

29 May 2009

white horse by taylor swift comes to mind when nick and rache are talking in the van in A Fist Full of Charms.

28 May 2009

sometimes i guess this song would fit different characters at different times. its called lie to me by johnny lang.

28 May 2009

Ketawang Puspawarna - This is so great it can apply to anything or anybody really. Just depends on your mood. Java Court Gamelan on Nonesuch records has a good version.

28 May 2009

I want to finish reading the series (and probably reread) before I suggest songs, but I can't help but throw something out there. Have a listen to Dirtfoot (the slower stuff really strike me as Hollows worthy). Particularly "Little Bit of Rum" from the album Entertain Me. It reminds me of Rachel & Kisten. It's so dark, slow and "dirty" and the lyrics really sum it up for me. *a clip of them* Wait for the night to come, we look like lovers in the dark/And I can't stand to see you when you cry, over me/Stand up and say, I know that you and I will surely have our day/Please open up that door, so I can let the world know what I'm really looking for/A little bit of Rum won't do, to help me, baby/A little bit of Rum won't do, to help me forget about you. There are a few songs on both Dirtfoot Albums (Entertain Me and Bone Sessions) that are appropriate.

26 May 2009

One part in My Chemical Romance's "The Sharpest Live" reminds me of Al and Rachel where it says: You're the one that I need/I'm the one that you loathe/You can watch me corrode/Like a beast in repose 'Cause I love all the poison/Away with the boys in the band

26 May 2009

Stabbing Westward, Waking Up Beside You. For Rachel pissed about Kisten and going to something about it.

25 May 2009

When I think of Al I think of Black Sabbath-Black Sabbath

25 May 2009

For Rachel I think the perfect song would be Pieces by Halestorm Especially the part that says: I wish i could just give up like you can/But i put on my face/I continue the fight/And i won’t stop ‘cause you don’t feel like trying/‘cause this pounding in my heart/It drives me hard

24 May 2009

Midnight jazz: Duke Ellington/Juan Tizol: "Pyramid"

The Band Is Dope And the Album is No Regrets. +Addiction+ fits Ivys need for Rachel.( She's like cocaine, heroin, alcohol, and vicodin. Shes my addiction.) +Nothing for me here+ Is how Rachel is feeling.(Now i, Rewind back to a time where i could do anything and pay any price.And i, Need time cause' i'm starting to think that the promises aint worth the sacrifice) +No Regrets+ Is how Rachel feels about her black magic (Over and over i keep losing myself Lower and lower i keep sinking Over and over i keep taking myself down With no regrets) +My funeral+ I think this is for Kisten (It's my funeral Welcome you all This is the end of the line So thank you for coming along My time has come I don't wanna leave you behind but this one I'll do on my own ) +WE are+ Is the kickass theme song fot Vampiric Charms (We're flat lining with a pocket full of kryptonite We're goin' down with a soul full of dynamite We got the world by the balls on a truth or dare The more we fall the less we care) + Violence+ Is Big AL song(Break it down Now the blood is flowing The body count is growin I love the sound of the screams So break it down With the system blowing And feel the sickness growin It's like a fucking disease) + Best for me+ What Rachel wants everybody to know ((I'm not) satisfied, (But I'm done) apologizing, (No more) compromise- And no more compromising.(Don't want) to criticize, (Cause I've done) the best that I can, (And I know) I'm doing fine, So I don't really care what you think! +Scorn+ When Rachel finds out her fate with the witches (As I stand and I wait and I learn I have been scorn As I live and I die and I burn I have been scorn So fuckin' Scorn that you wouldn't believe)

22 May 2009

"I wont tell you" by Lacuna Coil really makes me think of Rachel, I love the line " Ive been burned so bad but I still play with fire, sometimes naked truth is what I dont belive in" ~` Lisa

Ivy/Rachel - Song to the Siren by Tim Buckley

21 May 2009

I heard this song and it reminded me of Al and how he seduces his victims. The Smiths Jack The Ripper Oh, you look so tired Mouth slack and wide Ill housed and I'll be advised Your face is as mean as your life has been Crash into my arms I want you You don't agree, but you don't refuse I know you And I know a place Where no one is likely to pass Oh, you don't care if it's late And you don't care if you're lost And, oh, you look so tired But tonight you presume too much Too much Too much And if it's the last thing I ever do, I'm gonna get you Crash into my arms I want you You don't agree, but you don't refuse I know you And no one knows a thing about my life I can come and go as I please If I want to I can stay Or if I want to I can leave Nobody knows me Nobody knows me Nobody knows me Nobody knows me Ah, oh, nobody knows me Ah, oh, nobody knows me Ah, oh, nobody knows me

20 May 2009

Gollum's Song by Emiliana Torrini ...Beautiful lyrics as well as instrumental ....Ivy/Rachel. Leah

20 May 2009

There is this song called "Everlasting friend" by Blue October and i think it fits Rachel and Ivy`s relationship i listen to it all the time and i just think of them. you should really listen to it if you have never heard it i think you`d like it. Kaylin

20 May 2009

"Sorry" by Nick Black reminds me of Nick because the lyrics fit him perfectly and how he hurts Rachel with betrayal/secrets. "The Noose" by A Perfect Circle fits Rachel and her struggles to remain a white witch, when being pure will not save the ones she loves the most.(Also "Innocent" by Fuel would also work along the same lines of trying to stay pure) "A Beautiful Lie" by 30 Seconds to Mars would be for Ivy tring to get over her past and wanting to be something she's not. After Kisten reminds me of "Beauty from Pain" by Superchick. Just the sadness of the song suits the pain of Rachel trying to move on.

20 May 2009

okay once again 1. I like '24' by 'jem' a lot for Ivy. the line 'I'm not messing no I need your blessing and your promise to live free please do it for me' reminds me of her wanting to be 'saved' by Rachel and her not wanting Rachel to have any blood-relationship. 2. 'one girl revolution' (battle remix) by 'superchick' fits the more confident Ivy & the kicking-butt-scenes. *girl from germany*

19 May 2009

when ever rachel is on a run, espically when shes kicking butt, all i can hear is "super girl" by saving jane. i mean come on. it just fits the moment so well*****jeremy,ca

19 May 2009

wow where are all the comments? oO

27 Mar 2009

Hmm. That comment did not post at all how intended. I apologize for the wall of text below this comment.

27 Mar 2009

Rachel music: Nonpoint- Alive and Kicking. Fits the very tired, angry Rachel and her tooth-and-nail way of survival. Ivy music: Apocolyptica ft. Adam Gontier - I Don't Care. The song style fits Ivy to a T. Add the lyrics and Ivy's repeated problems with other vampires trying to turn her into something she doesn't want to be... Trent music: Metallica - The Unforgiven. Poor boy has commited a lot of sins, even though he isn't so bad a guy. Al music: Metallica - Die Die My Darling. Al's a tough cookie for music. Needless to say, this is all about Al and Rachel. Newt music: Jonathan Coulton - Still Alive. Newt in all her crazy, psychotic, evil glory. The Turn: Bloc Party - Hunting For Witches. Human point of view of the Turn with an ironic title.

27 Mar 2009

For Ivy, I think that Loreena McKennett's "Dante's Prayer" should be added. More than anything, I think Ivy wants to be remembered in some way for the person she wants to be. ~LH

26 Mar 2009

The first time I heard Love Me Dead by Ludo it made me think of Ivy and Rachel. Now I laugh every time I hear it because it's just so dang perfect. ~M

26 Mar 2009

Everything Burns by Anastacia and Ben Moody (from Evanescence) as appearing on the Fantastic Four soundtrack. Great song for Ivy, dealing with inner turmoil, having passion, wanting to fight the buried past, but still finding where you fit in your everyday life, wanting to lash out, but keeping in control. Suppressed passion!

26 Mar 2009

How about Muse's Invicible for Vampiric Charm? It sounds like their internal Moto ("Together we're invincible")

24 Mar 2009

Each time I hear it I think of Rachel, and Ivy... Thriving Ivory's: Angels on the Moon

23 Mar 2009

I think Glory Box by Portishead fits Ivy's mindset before piscary raped her. Linkin park's "leave out all the rest" fits what I think drives rachel to try so hard to do what's right., "What I've done" is for Ivy, and "No More Sorrow" is good music for rachel to kick piscary's undead hide to :) I am such a fan of your work! you are so talented I am absorbed in your series!! Don't even end it!! Love and Vamp kisses vV--Vv Minnie

22 Mar 2009

Hi Kim: For Trent, how about "Dr. Feelgood" or "Bad Medicine" by Bon Jovi? And for seduction, you just can't go wrong with Frank Sinatra! Jim

22 Mar 2009

Nothing for David? How about Godsmack's "I Stand Alone" and Type O Negative's "Wolf Moon"? There is a rare The Misfits track titled "Vampire Love", I think that one is a little obvious.

22 Mar 2009

How about Nonpoint's "Bullet With A Name" for Rachel? If you listen closely to the lyrics, I feel they represent her perfectly. I have noticed nobody has mentioned Korn. I think they have a few songs that fit the dynamic of the charatcters. Maybe, "Alone I Break", "Freak On A Leash", "Comming Undone" and "Evolution". Also Marilyn Manson's "IF I Was Your Vampire".

22 Mar 2009

Ever listen to Muse? I think "sunburn" from their new album "showbiz" is awesome for Ivy after her fall..... Also by muse: "Micro Cuts" for rachel channelling ley line energy, and despite being used in "Twilight", "Supermassive Black hole" is altogether dark and sexy. Muse also did the best cover of "feelin Good" I have ever heard, and I think that fits Rachel on a really good night flying down the interstate in her red convertable.

20 Mar 2009

Out of all the possible matches with Rachel, I like Trent. I have a few songs that I think play nicely with the two of them. Aqualung- “Strange and Beautiful” (You really have to listen to this song if you’ve never heard it! It’s beautiful! When I hear this song it makes me think of Trent and Rachel… though I think it also fits Rachel and Pierce now that I’ve read the latest book), CrossFade -“So Far Away” (Trent trying to find a way to express how his feelings are shifting towards Rachel. Of course my thoughts on the matter just might be me over analyzing how he’s been acting), Slipknot – “Vermillion prt 2” (After he thinks she’s become a demon and is trying to deny that he has feeling, once again…Only in my mind perhaps). Finger Eleven – “Stay In Shadow” ( I think the last couple of lines before the chorus really makes this a fitting song), Default – “Deny” (Trent’s secret need for Rachel and his desire for her to work for him) Songs that make me thin of Rachel - 32 Leaves – “All is Numb”, Wolfmother –“Women”, Machine Gun Fellatio – “The Girl of my Dreams is giving me nightmares” The ultimate Trent Song – Growing on me by The Darkness

Long-time reader, first-time poster. Love the idea behind this page, Kim. Looks like folks have some great musical associations going on all ready. Truly a bizarre, yet enjoyable playlist. Here’s a little of my input: Rachel – “Show Me The Way” by Elis. “You Vs. Me” by The HorrorPops. “The Devil In Miss Jones” by Mike Ness. “American Witch” by Rob Zombie. (Regarding Ivy) “Running Up That Hill” by Kate Bush (both Faith and the Muse and Within Temptation do awesome covers of this one). Ivy – “Time To Bring The Pain” by Krypteria. “Perfectly Flawed” by Otep. “Clown” by Switchblade Symphony. Jenks – “Good Rats” by Dropkick Murphys. (Regarding Matalina) - “Love You ‘Till The End” by The Pogues. Al – “Beast and the Harlot” by Avenged Sevenfold. Ceri - “Host Of Seraphim” by Dead Can Dance. Kisten - “The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove” by Dead Can Dance. “Reach For The Sky” by Social Distortion. Matalina - “If I Ever Leave This World Alive” by Flogging Molly. Newt - “Ghostflowers” by Otep. Piscary – “Killing Game” by Skinny Puppy. Trent – “Failure To Thrive” by Faith and the Muse. “The Islander” by Nightwish.

I was SOOOOO upset with the death of Kisten. Funny, I started out not liking him, then loved him. I'm glad to see you're keeping him alive in her memory at least (well, what she can recover.) Since you like Evanescence, I thought you might agree with this one: when I think of Rachel and Kisten I think of the song "Lithium". I agree with "My Immortal" for Rachel and Ivy...I also think "Good Enough" works well (also by Evanescence.) Perhaps Anna Nalick's 'Breathe' works for Rachel?

11 Mar 2009

Songs for Kisten: "If I Was Your Vampire" and "Heart Shaped Glasses" by Marilyn Manson (for either his relationship with Rachel or with Ivy). Another great song is "Dance With The Devil" by Breaking Benjamin. Could be used for Rachel(when facing Al).

A great song is "Crazy" by Kidney Thieves. It's a remake of Patsy Cline's "Crazy". It reminds me of Rachel and Nick, but you should check it out and see what you think. A song that reminds me of Rachel and Kisten is "Something I Can Never Have" by Flyleaf (originally done by NIN, from the Underworld: Evolution soundtrack). I hope you like them!

21 Jan 2009

Rachel and Ivy - "Lovefool" by The Cardigans, though I think Ivy's feelings are a little more "requited" than this song might suggest. But I especially like the chorus: "Love me, love me/Say that you love me/Fool me fool me/Go on and fool me/Love me love me/Pretend that you love me/Need me need me/Just say that you need me/I can't care 'bout anything but you". I think it describes Ivy in her more clingy, needful, vulnerable moments. And I absolutely LOVE that you hear music associated with your characters!

21 Jan 2009

Greetings all ye fellow fans of our beloved Ms. Harrison. Just like everyone else, I cannot wait for part seven--part seven already!--to come out. I return once again to input my musical suggestions to this very long list of other greats. The first is about a relationship that goes by with very little discussion. Takata/Rachel. Personally, I'm not quite sure where these two stand with each other and their newly found relationship. But if you were to listen to Korn's rendition of "Another Brick in the Wall" you'll pretty much get the life story of these to. "Daddy's flown across the ocean/Leaving just a memory/A snapshot in the family album/Daddy what else did ya leave behind for me?/Daddy whatcha leave behind for me?/All in all it was just a brick in the wall/ All in all it was just bricks in the wall". That opening verse sums up Rachel's entire childhood with her real father. Newt is another one that's hard to pick a song for without coming of as redundant or corny. But I think Disturbed's "Perfect Insanity" fits the bill perfectly (no pun intended). Everything about this song, from the riveting guitars to the way David sings the lyrics IS Newt. It's like the boys from Chicago read Ms. Harrison's work and decided to write a song about our favorite crazy demon. Another song for Newt (or the "Demon Gathering" at the end of "The Outlaw Demon Wails") that came out recently is Slipknot's "Psycho Social". Once again, the parallels are too numerous to pick a good enough exert for here. Keasley is another character that often gets omitted from these discussions. Granted it's hard to find good songs/music for the "handy old man next door" type character. Motley Crue's "Dr. Feelgood" is like his theme song. Everything about that song just screams what he is to Rachel and her friends. Another song I found that fits him very well, and it's been staring me in the face for a long time. Thinking of how he helps Rachel and the manner in which he does this, Metallica's "Enter Sandman" jumps right out. Thinking of the chorus to that song: "Exit Light. Enter Night/Take my hand/We're off to Never-Neverland". It seems every time Keasley gets involved he has to drug our beloved bounty hunter into unconsciousness. Or is it just me? Taking a little ride through the Hallows and up to the front door of Vampiric Charms, I could just hear the ironic tune of Stone Sour's "Silly World" playing on my stereo. "Peace was just a phase/But someone put it on a church/and nearly killed the day. . .Why can't anybody see/what's good for you is bad for me?/I can't take your silly world/I can't take your silly world no more!" I can almost hear Jenks singing along from my sun-visor. A character that I don't think has received any recognition in this forum is Denon (forgive me if I'm wrong there). He's just that wanna-be, arrogant, asshole boss that you just want to punch in the face. I'm sure there's probably plenty of songs that go with his nature, but none strikes me more in his relationship with Rachel than 3 Doors Down's "Loser". "You're getting closer to pushing me off of life's little edge/Cuz I'm a loser/But sooner or later you know I'll be dead/You're getting closer to holding the rope and I'm taking the fall/Cuz I'm a loser." Need I say more? Personally, I haven't made up my mind if I like Trent or not. On one hand he's your typical "mob boss" type businessman. Then on the other hand he does whatever he can to help those close to him (Quen namely). Outside of what's already been said about him, I think Queensryche's "Empire" puts him and his interests in a nutshell. "Got an AK-47 for his best friend/Business the American way". If you listen to the song, then you can see just how deep this plays into his personality and corruption. I was reading "A Fistful of Charms" and a thought occurred to me. Jenks goes into some detail of his past and how he came to be. It made me like the guy even more. But to put that bit of information into musical form, I think Skid Row's "18 and Life" does just fine, telling the story of being a social outcast and making stupid mistakes only to end up where you ought to be; he tries to get that across to Rachel on more than one occasion with virtually no success. Well, that does it for me on this round. Just thought I'd shed some light on the lesser talked about characters/relationships. I leave you once again on the promise to return. --Nate

19 Jan 2009

Just wanted to suggest a couple of songs, I don't know if you've heard of the band Uh Huh Her, they're fairly new, but they have a couple of songs that remind me of some characters. First the song is Covered, it makes me think of Rachel and her love life especially the first few lines "Would I fall under that spell again, I don't think so anymore, But I don't know what's written". Also the song Explode reminds me of Rachel and Ivy, song is very seductive but with deep longing and forcefulness to it as well, that the short song leaves me wanting to go on. Check out the band they have a lot of other good stuff that just makes me drift into the books easily.

19 Jan 2009

The sond "Further" by VNV Nation has always been a favorite song of mine, and the last time I listened to it I felt that it was fitting for Rachel, specifically in terms of her relationship with Kisten. Further At the end of days, at the end of time. When the Sun burns out will any of this matter. Who will be there to remember who we were? Who will be there to know that any of this had meaning for us? And in retrospect I'll say we've done no wrong. Who are we to judge what is right and what has purpose for us? With designs upon ourselves to do no wrong, running wild unaware of what might come of us. The Sun was born, so it shall die, so only shadows comfort me. I know in darkness I will find you giving up inside like me. Each day shall end as it begins and though you're far away from me I know in darkness I will find you giving up inside like me Without a thought I will see everything eternal, forget that once we were just dust from heavens far. As we were forged we shall return, perhaps some day. I will remember you and wonder who we were.

"Building A Mystery" by Sarah MaLaflan You come out at night that's when the energy comes and the dark side's light and the vampires roam you strut your rasta wear and your suicide poem and a cross from a faith that died before Jesus came you're building a mystery You live in a church where you sleep with voodoo dolls and you won't give up the search for the ghosts in the halls you wear sandals in the snow and a smile that won't wash away can you look out the window without your shadow getting in the way oh you're so beautiful with an edge and a charm but so careful when I'm in your arms

18 Jan 2009

I would think "Inside the Fire" by Disturbed would fit Rachel and Ivy the way that everything seems to be going okay. But, as usual, everything goes to hell in a handbasket, yet the two of them are still getting through. Ivy's new master, Rynn Cormel (sic) would definately by something by Johnny Cash, that sense of age and wisdom, maybe "Hurt"?

14 Jan 2009

Hello you amazingly tallented beautiful human being. I had a couple songs that I thought you might find inspiring. There is a band called Demon Hunter on their self titled CD is a song called Infected... "I'm infacted with you, pull the plug already. Tell me before I go that you're infected with me." it's despairing, but I always think of Ivy and her feelings for Rachel.

14 Jan 2009

New fan here!!! Can't wait for the new book... I think a good song for how Ivy feels about Rachel, Love Lockdown by Kayne West, check it out on www.playlist.com

10 Jan 2009

Hi, I am embarrassed to say that I just finished your book, "Dead Witch Walking". I actually learned about you when I was skimming Amizon for music several months ago. I noticed you had a selection of music listed as your "Muse" which sparked my interest. I appreciated being introduced to Jeff Buckely ("Everybody Here Wants You" was my favorite) and the tracks from NIN, Evanescence and Garbage that I hadn't heard yet. I like to listen to certain types of music, depending on the books I am reading, to drown out the everyday noises from work and home. Since we seem to have similar taste in music, I thought you may like The Strokes if you havn't heard them yet. I discovered them on my son's Rock Band video game and have since downloaded most of thier music. I do not have a suggestion for a particular song to go with a particular character, but I think you may like the band if you have a chance to listen to them. By the way, I'm not laughing about Duran Duran and Sting. They were, and still are, dear to my heart. "Burn for You" from that crazy movie "Brimstone and Treacle" was a favorite of mine back when I was... much younger. Anyway, thanks for the music ideas and I hope you get a chance to check out The Strokes. Oh, and I did like the book and I plan on reading the rest. Cindy from NC

09 Jan 2009

i was listening to Nickelback's next contestant and think that it is the perfect song for the way ivy feels when rachel goes out everyone that has read the books agrees with me

a great song for the elves and there doomed fight to save the everafter from the demons is High Hopes by pink floyd or you can listen to the cover by nightwish. William

06 Jan 2009

Kim, you should listen to "She Is My Sin" by Nightwish it's perfect for Ivy's confusion about Rachel and can also be for Kisten and Rachel. But I think it's absolutely perfect for times when Ivy's trying to control the urge to bite Rachel....Felisha

04 Jan 2009

Fallouy Boy's "I Don't Care" and Flyleaf's "All Around Me" scream Ivy to me. Both of those songs make me think of how she feels about Rachel and how much she needs her around. And on a goofy note, my kids were watching Madagascar and I got a mental image of Jenks and his pixy brood flying around to "I Like to Move It"

02 Jan 2009

I think the song "Dance With The Devil" By Breaking Benjamin fits alot of what was going on with Rachel, Kisten and Ivy in books 3 through 5

25 Dec 2008

It has been a while since I read one of the hallows books but getting lost in the new one, I got more of the daemon flavor out it, making me think of "Sleep Isabella" or "The Only One, Live" by Abney Park. Solitaire by Iced Earth for Al and "Love You to Death" by Kamelot for Al and Ceri, after reading the short story. Rachel being neither here nor there still gets me in the mind of "Metal Tango" and "Für Immer" by Warlock, and "The Truth Beneath the Rose" by Within Temptation. Last the most interesting of all Newt all that is sureal yet deep, got me Nightwish mindset not the metal stuff so much as there other stuff, Tutankhamen, Deep Silent Complete, Creek Mary`s Blood, Over the Hills and Far Away. That and "Where Do the Boys Go?" by Men Without Hats For some reason that does make sense but feels right.

25 Dec 2008

I don't care by Apocalyptica for Rachel and Trent.....that song is beautiful and just incredibale*.*.....perfect for them!...when I hear it I know why I like to see them as a couple....they say that they hate each other but they also need each other and Trent seems to be Rachels dakest side....the kind of person she don't want to become....she don't want to be....and Trent knows that they are much alike and then he found out what his father done to her..that his father made her to a demon-witch..and he hate demons and he is scared of them....and sometimes it seems like he wants Rachel to understand why he done and still do bad things....that he cares what she thinks about him...they both lost their fathers....they both feels like nobody understands them..they both lost people they loved and they both are hurt ....I really think that they don't hate eatch other even if they want.....I have an amazing feeling when I listen to " I don't care " and think of them =) Greetings Antonija, Ge

21 Dec 2008

The Romance of the Violin CD with Joshua Bell leading the performers is a great seduction choice. ~Lara

21 Dec 2008

Hmm..I've been fascinated by the dichotomy that is Ivy. So I thought of "Desperation" and "Down" by Miranda Lambert. For Ivy and Rachel I thought of "There's Wall" by Miranda Lambert again or "To Know Love" Little Big Town and "Out of the Woods" by Nickel Creek. I put these just to throw in some odd choices.

21 Dec 2008

ok so this is an odd one. but before it was put on twilight the song "eyes on fire" by blue foundation reminded me of rachel and ivy... :) look now im kiping songs from another vampire series, whatev. this fits waaay better on the hollows series.

20 Dec 2008

for rachel and kisten i really like "unsual you" from britney spears... rachel thinking of kisten

19 Dec 2008

WEllll... I don't know if you've ever listened to the track "Count on Me" by Default, but it's a very sentimental song and I'm sure it applies to someone in the Hollows. [: Shar

19 Dec 2008

Have you listened to alot of Withen Temptation? After reading the short story at the end of your last hollows book I think the song angel personifies Ceri's and Al's relationship really well.

18 Dec 2008

I find myself extremely inspired byyyy... Shinedown- Devour A Change of Pace- War in your bedroom Saliva- Always Saving Abel- Addicted Seether- Fake it

18 Dec 2008

How about I Don't Care by Apocalyptica for Trent with Rachel? Something about the thought of how they hate how much they need each other, but each publicly says they don't care for each other. The fact that it's Adam from Three Days Grace providing the vocals doesn't hurt either.

18 Dec 2008

How about this one Candy Jones by Darling Violetta. every time i hear ti i always think about Ivy and Piscary and how he used her to spy on Rachel.

18 Dec 2008

Okay how about Life is Like a Boat it is the first ending song from the anime Bleach and every time i hear that song i thonk about how Ivy and Rachel and Jenks are always there for each other.

16 Dec 2008

Okay so maybe everyone else came up with good songs but i think Evanescence song "Missing" is a good song for Ivy and Racheal! Korny I know but what the hey!!! Peace, love, and vampires!!! HE HE HE!!!

15 Dec 2008

The Eagles "Somebody" from their "Long Road out of Eden" album makes me think of David every time I hear it :)

15 Dec 2008

Ok I'm a major Dashboard Confessional fan and I can see some of the songs fitting The Hollows. First, "This Ruined Puzzle" just kinda screams Rache and Kist to me. "Ender will Save us All" reminds me of Rachel and Ivy. "If you can't leave it be Make it bleed" seems to fit Ivy. The music of "Several Ways to Die Trying" is beautiful and thought the lyrics are a little off it does remind me of Ivy after Piscary broke her. And I'm not sure who I'd give the song "Vindicated" to but I know it fits in here somewhere

15 Dec 2008

Superchick's Me Against the World or One Girl Revolution for Rachel

11 Dec 2008

Three Days Grace - Pain I know some of their other songs made it to Kim's list, but every time I hear this song, I think if Ivy. Either Ivy & Piscary or (sometimes) Ivy & Rachel. But always Ivy. Plus, the song rocks!

09 Dec 2008

"Call Me" from cowboy bebop soundtrack for times when Rachel and Ivy are apart.

08 Dec 2008

"tape song" performed by "the kills" for newt.

07 Dec 2008

Linkin Park "Leave Out All The Rest" I know this song has already been mentioned by somebody else, but it really is a perfect Hollows song for me as well. It never fails to remind me of Kist or, even more, of Ivy. Sabrina

05 Dec 2008

I think its fantastic that I can read one of my favorite books and see a line or two about my favorite musician, the late Jeff Buckley. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy when I see appreciation for great music. I have a suggestion for Kisten, "Angel" by Massive Attack.

dire straits - romeo and juliet (rachel + kisten) '...i'll love you like the stars above, i'll love you till i die...... when you gonna realise, it was just that the time was wrrong...'

04 Dec 2008

Hey, I think the Song "Me and My Charms" by Kristin Hersh, would fit to the end of "For A Few Demons More" when Kisten dies and Rachel and Ivy find him. Aside from the part that says"drive her away" in the song. Where it says "I haven't left you yet/&/ You can come back when u want/ I haven't left u yet". It's like rachel thinking about him. It has become one of my favorite songs. And I happened to be listening to it when I read the part where Kisten dies. I think it would count as a song for both Rachel and Ivy.

30 Nov 2008

I don't know who they would fit, probably Ivy, but my new favorite is Within Temptation, "The Howling", and Trent and Rachel would definately fit "What Have You Done Now" both are two of my favorites ;o) ... Chylo

30 Nov 2008

Whoops- lets try that again... Paul Numan's "Jagged" for... anyone really, but leaning towards Al/Rachel or Al/Ceri. Apocalyptica's "I Don't Care" for Rachel (on Nick). Sugarcult's "Pretty Girl" for Nick/Rachel. Three Doors Down's "Get Out Alive" for Al/Rachel (trying to escape the ever-after). Three Doors Down's "Animal I Have Become" for Ivy, Evanescence's "Give Unto Me" for Ivy, and Puscifer's "Rev 22:20" for Ivy.

24 Nov 2008

A great song for Al and Newt, in regards to Rachel would be "Bundy" by Animal Alpha, becuase when you hear the lyrics - "were comoing to get you" and you think of Al or Newt a little tinngle will go down your spine.

23 Nov 2008

Songs I thought fitting for Ivy: Metallica's "The Day that Never Comes", Lacuna Coil's "Reverie", Rachel: Linkin Park's "From the Inside", Lacuna Coil's "Virtual Environment", Metallica's "Broken, Beat & Scarred" ~LL

"Illness Illusion" by Gackt for Newt haha; "Whoever Brings the Night" by Nightwish for Rachel and also "She is My Sin" for Ivy and Rachel~Katie :D

20 Nov 2008

Stay - by Shakespeare's Sister. (especially when it changes to that creepy feel, right at "...you'd better hope and pray that you make it safe back to your own world...") That song makes me think of the ever-after - not certain who there feels quite like this about Rachel - but then I have two more books to go, and you are the Hollows expert, not me :)

20 Nov 2008

*extends arms and claps hands methodically while grinning wickedly* Greetings to all once again. As promised, I'm back for another set of music I feel befitting of Miss Harrison's masterpiece. *bows humbly to her greatness* I actually went to every one of the links provided thus far in this forum, leaving me hard pressed to find anything either not mentioned or that can equal what has. Here goes. Following the link to the L'Ame Immortelle's song--awesome song, by the way--I found another, among a few, worthy of being included on this list. "5 Jahre" is an amazing song, telling the tragic story of two loves torn apart in a way that would make Shakespeare proud. The video could very well have been filmed in the graveyard of Vampiric Charms, plus the clothes would go beautifully on almost every character, Marshal included. "Lake of Tears" personally I think is the best song for Kisten/Rachel/Ivy. "You took my doubts, you took my fears/You led me through this Lake of Tears." I don't know how better to say it. One last L'Ame Immortelle for this list is "Soul in Agony". It best describes Ivy's homelife and parents. One can easily apply this song to any undead vamp, but I can see this song almost verbatim in Ivy's memoirs. Thinking of Vampiric Charms and the relationship of it's owners, the song "Speak" from Godsmack comes to mind. A song about being honest and forthcoming about what you know perfectly reflects how Rachel must treat her partners and how easily it can be destroyed. Another great Godsmack song for the Vampiric Charms crew is "Awake". "Because of you I'm alive/For you I'm awake" the title line just screams Rachel-Ivy. "Ass still kickin', what you see I can't see/ and maybe, you'll think before you speak" is Rachel-Jenks to a T. I find the scene at the end of The Good, The Bad, The Undead, when Ivy was "thrown off the bandwagon" a turning point in Rachel's understanding of what it's been like for her. "Hear Me Now" by Framing Hanley spells out what must have been going through Ivy's mind as she lie on the floor. "And the truths that we all try to hide/Are so much clearer when it's not our lives" and then the title line "Now my body's on the floor and I am calling/ Well I'm calling out to you. Can you hear me now?" The message that Rachel receives exactly. After reading the entire series, I found a common theme throughout, on both sides of the lines. Whenever something so traumatic happens to either Interlander or Demon, they take a forget charm and then spend the next years of their life trying to find that lost memory. Mudvayne's "Forget to Remember" is a good fit into this part of the plot. Disturbed's "Remember" is another good candidate for this theory. Disturbed's "Hell" is a good song to sum up how the sixth book ended. "Burning now I bring you down", the opening line to the song tells it all. Actually, this song could very well be Al's life story. I've found several songs that could involve the Al/Ceri relationship. "Avarice" and "Facade" by Disturbed is a good start. "Merciful Fate" by Metallica in a twisted metaphor explains how she ended up as Al's familiar in the first place. "Wither" by Allyptic is a good song for what end on between them (and is destined to happen to Rachel now). "No One's There" by Korn is a good one when describing an empty shell of a body, which can be easily followed by Three Days Grace's "Pain". When it comes to Rachel and Al, Rob Zombie's "Twisted Metal" is a good summation of how their relationship goes from book one all the way to book six, then some? Marilyn Manson's "Sweet Dreams" and "Tainted Love" are great songs when thinking of Al in any manner. The twisted imagery and vivid darkness behind the words is seeping with Al's aura. For the Winter Solstice scene at the church, The Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo" is an awesome underscore. The joyous, triumphant yet dramatically heavy emotion that song puts out is beyond superb. A good additive to that book. That's it for this round. I will be back with another few songs to add to my mental playlist. Happy readings to all of my fellow Hallows lovers and a special bow to Kim and her books and website which enable us to gather as we do. --Nate

13 Nov 2008

I've always thought of Anna Nalick - Breathe (2AM)for Rachel & Ivy, especially as they try for a blood balance. Lauretta Constellation Books

11 Nov 2008

hey kim, was introducing my kids to kate bush over the weekend and came across "the fog" from the sensual world album that i think reflects rachael and her father, i can see the song playing out summer camp, and the song "lily" from the red shoes album which i think reflects her relationship with ceri and all the powerful people trying to protect her, ivy, jenks, quen.... on another note i love that everyone know rachael's mother, alice. she's become (sort of :^) the alice b tolkas of the charm-o-flage circuit. lg

11 Nov 2008

Absolutely love your books, Rachel Marian.... I mean Kim Harrison. ;-) I have two bands to recommend, take them or leave them as is your want: Kill Hannah's "Lips Like Morphine" - reminds me of Rachel's and Ivy's kiss in "For a Few Demons More" and I think it reflects the edge of not knowing exactly why the kiss is so wanted; just that it is. I also suggest Hurt's "Danse Russe" and "Falls Apart" - just listen to them. If I'm wrong you may publicly humiliate me whenever you get down to Dallas.

10 Nov 2008

Staind - Right Here :] x

08 Nov 2008

Wow... I've actually listened to most of these songs while reading "Dead Witch Waling". Especially every Evanescence song you have posted.

06 Nov 2008

For Ceri I have in mind two songs from A Fine Frenzy, "The Minnow and the Trout" and "Borrowed Time". I'm not completely sure why, but listening to them makes me think of her. --Lynn :3

06 Nov 2008

Okay I can't help but think Poisin by Alice Cooper is such a vampire song! I think of Kim Harrison books every time I hear Animal I Have Become as well. This song kind of makes me think of Trent and how he may have become a monster he never wanted to be?

04 Nov 2008

"Gravity" by Sara Bareilles and "Responsible" by Sara Bareilles. ~~for Ivy and Rachel~~

03 Nov 2008

I put this in the drama bax before seeing this, my bad. I'm just putting it where it belongs. I thought I would mention "without You" by Dixie chicks. though she isn't a country chick, it seemed to fit Ivy very well

Death Cab - When soul meets body for Ivy

03 Nov 2008

I second the heads up for everything by Concrete Blonde esp. "Bloodletting", "Dance Along the Edge", and "The Sky is a Poisonous Garden". Faith and the Muse's album "The Burning Season". Aimee Mann's album "Bachelor No.2". Frank the Baptist's album "Beggars Would Ride" esp. "Queen Frostine" (in my mind, Takata sounds like Frank). Elmore James "Take Me Where You Go" for Jenks. Lightnin Hopkins "Mojo Hand" for Rachel at work. Junior Wells "I'm a Stranger" for Ceri. 45 Grave "Evil" for Al, "Procession" for Newt and "Party Time" and "Riboflavin" for the vamp bar at Piscary's. Lead Belly's "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" not sure who should sing that to Rachel, but some one should. Hole's cover (of Heart's) "Gold Dust Woman". Alien Sex Fiend's "I Walk the Line" for Trent. London After Midnight in general for the Ever After. Siouxsie and the Banshee's "Slowdive", "Spellbound", "Love Out Me", the album "Tinderbox". Really anything by Siouxsie. Annie Lennox's "Whiter Shade of Pale" and "Take Me to the River". Snog's "Empires", "The Ballad" and Southern Death Cult's "Fatman" for the assorted demons. Peter Murphy's "Cuts You Up". And Human Drama's "Let the Darkness In".

Amon Amarth's "Where Silent Gods Stand Guard" is eerie. It brings to mind a vampire (Kisten, Ivy, Piscary) or a demon out of control and totally lost in blood rage. Forewarning, it is very creepy. Here's the lyrics : http://www.darklyrics.com/lyrics/amonamarth/withodenonourside.html#1 "And drink their blood to make them my slaves" Just rings vampire to me. Oh yeahs... here's a youtube video of it. Its just a band picture and the song tho... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJ28J1pa2mk Cheers! ~Bookreader ~ fiik ~ Boobs ~ or just plain old Rachael

Meat Loaf "Alive" Music-wise, this really isn't a Hollows song for me, but the lyrics are just sooo Rachel. Sabrina

you need to add marshal 2 your list because I think "I wanna know your name" suits him and rachel!

28 Oct 2008

Based on the songs you have said resonate with the characters at different points. I would suggest Nightwish, Within Temptation and Delain as bands to try listening too. They have a Evanesence/Lacuna coil feel. If technically older than both in some cases :)

14 Oct 2008

*evil laughter* I promised I'd be back, so here I am! I finished reading The good, The Bad, and The Undead; and Every Which Way but Dead. Hats off to Ms. Harrison and her incredible talent! *claps hands and bows respectfully* I've done some more digging and came up with a few more titles I feel are deserving of this list. Disturbed's "Haunted" is one that comes to mind when thinking of character interaction. The song itself feels like a conversation between Rachel and Ivy, Rachel and Al, Ivy and Ceri, Kisten and Nick. If you've heard it then you know what I mean. The title lines, the verse lines of "My blood is cold as ice, or so I have been told./ Show no emotion and it can destroy your soul." The later, "You're angered? So am I! A thousand fires burn./ A land of Darkness from which I can not return." and "You're frightened? So am I! A world of demons wait./ Watching my movements and filling my heart with hate." That song plays right into the fears of almost every character in almost every way. And the music that accompanies the lyrics makes it sound like they're at the threshold of the ever-after. Thinking of the Rachel/Ivy relationship from the streets of the Hollows perspective, Marilyn Manson's "Personal Jesus" fits the bill beautifully. The creepy vocals, twisted message, and weird imagery that song projects fills what the Inderlanders think of the two of them. I mean, take away knowing what we know and we're left with that very opinion. Metallica's "No Leaf Clover" is a good song for anyone who's ever felt disappointed with themselves. The idea of your struggle to get to the top only to realize it was all for nothing, either it be your fault or not, is sickening. With lines like "Don't it feel right like this? All the pieces fall to his wish." Which leads to "When it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of our tunnel/ Was just a freight train coming your way", that just sums up the worst way to end the best day of your life. Hitting a near-euphoric high then falling into utter disappointment and despair. For most of the series, that pretty much IS Rachel's life. No matter how hard she tries, she just can't escape this destiny of falling short in some form or fashion--or them falling short on her. Thinking about the Ivy/Piscary (or even Kisten/Piscary) relationship and how she struggles to win his love and respect, Linkin Park's "Numb" is a shining example of things always seem to play out. Ivy loves and respects Rachel too much to give into what Piscary wants her to do, which in direct contradiction to her entire up-bringing and vampiric culture. She's walking a fatal balance of living by her own morals while carrying out the wishes of the master vampire. The title line spells out the argument in her head that she's slowly losing. "I become so numb, I can feel you there. I become so tired, so much more aware... All I want to do is be more like me and less like you." Looking over my playlists, a song just jumped out at me that finally put Skimmer into this discussion. Personally, I thought the connection of her to Ivy went much deeper than either of them let on (thanks Kim for giving enough to leave to the imagination) in the third book. The way Skimmer acts around Ivy is much the same as Ivy acts around Rachel: protective, wanting, caring, domineering, loving. The reunion scene in Good, Bad and Undead, and the FIB scene at the end of For A Few Demons More solidified it all. Scorpion's "Still Loving You" is the ultimate song for Skimmer's feeling are, however, I'm so sure about Ivy's... (I did think it funny that she killed the man she freed from jail). Another song of the Scorpion's that I find befitting--not to mention I love this song--is "Winds Of Change". The three-word title alone describes the Turn itself. Plus, thinking metaphorically it goes right along with Rachel being a devout earth witch to becoming a practicing ley line witch. Plus, thinking of the series in movie form, one could argue that it could be the end-credit song of all of them. "Take me to the magic of the moment on a glory night, where the children of tomorrow dream away..." The chorus line seems to go right along with how things have unfolded. With Rachel's transformation from loner to crew runner to Ivy's dream that Rachel's magic can cure her, from Jenks struggling to keep his family--and Rachel--safe to Rachel's days at that camp. It can all fit. Rachel may be a bad-ass runner that can kick some tail to get her mark. Hell she's done everything from humiliated a leprechaun to beating a master vampire within an inch of his life. But the one constant in it all was that they were all taken alive. I recently discovered a song that, at face value anyway, is very political and preachy, but under that facade is a message that says just what Rachel's been saying this whole time. Fights are inevitable, but loss of life life is not always necessary; it's more of a tragic side effect of the the long term. Manic Movement's "Russians" is just superb. With it's powerful vocals and overwhelming instrumentals, it seems like the kind of thing right up Rachel's ally. Well. I'm out of ideas for now, but once again I promise to be back. *evil laughter* --Nate

Actually, scratch what I said below. Bite Me Betty needs more than a commercial she needs her own music video!! -Christina

10 Oct 2008

If the Bite Me Betty doll had a commercial and that commercial had a song, I am convinced that "Oh Oh Oh, Sexy Vampire" by Fright Rangers would be the song used. Just change the words from "bite me baby" to "Bite Me Betty" and its perfect. And as silly as it may be, I always imagine Barbie singing the song to Bite Me Betty. :)

10 Oct 2008

(after a second thought... "if i was your Vampire" could really stick to the whole Rachel & Piscary relation, good and bad moments - Val

10 Oct 2008

For that Encounter Rachel vs. Piscary, I stumbled across "If I was your Vampire" by Marilyn Manson... could also fit the scene where Rachel gets her first Scar by Al... :) - Val

08 Oct 2008

For some reason I'm leaning towards the song Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls for Ivy, I feel that the tone may not be her so much but the lyrics I could relate to her a lot. -Taylor

08 Oct 2008

I just heard the most perfect song for Ivy (In My Opinion) and that is The Past by Sevendust featuring Chris Daughtry ... Please read the lyrics if nothing else. I think it's her to a tee

07 Oct 2008

"Silent Lucity" by Queensryche would be perfect for Rachel, if her ultimate hero would finally reveal him/her/itself ;). But, as Rachel doesn't seem to want anyone to rescue her (she can do it herself, thank you very much), maybe she only sings this when she thinks no one is listening. A huge fan, Lynn.

28 Sep 2008

Sept 28 What about Disturbed "Inside the fire" ? I think it fits Rachael and Al....

27 Sep 2008

I've only read two of the books (Dead Witch Walking; For A Few Demons More) but I think I've found a great few songs for some of the characters. First is "Indestructible" by Disturbed. This one can fit into several of the characters. Personally I think it fits Ivy best, but Rachel, Jenks, Ceri and David also fit the bill. That song just plays at the heart of what all of these characters are seemingly trying to prove to themselves more so than others, "YOU can't take me down. 'I'm indestructible'." Second is Mudvayne's "Happy?". The essence of this song is about relationships that take everything from you and give nothing back... or do they? The title lyric "Pull me from the skin! Tear me from the rind! Does it make you happy now?" says that one is giving just to make the other happy, but continues to do so because he/she believes deep down that it will work out. With this in mind, it's easy to use it as a good description to Rachel/Ivy, but one can easily think of it as all negative and apply it Piscary/Ivy (or more comically Trent/Ellasbeth). However, if you were to really think about it, I think everyone in any relationship felt like this a t some point. "Wake Up the Hate" by Korn is easily applied to any fighting scene. The entire song just enrages the soul and gets the blood going. Particularly I like the title lyric, which is also what the goal is in any fight, "We're gonna wake up the hate; We're gonna fuck you up!" Given how Rachel and her crew chooses to fight (especially the vamps, weres and pixies) I think this song is well justified. Speaking of Korn, "Evolution" seems to have been written to sum up the story behind the Hollows. And as a third song of theirs, "Hold On" is all about holding onto who and what you believe in and why you believe in them. "Hold on, be strong. So right, so wrong" says it all. For most of the series Trent has been at the heart of every mention of corruption. Papa Roach's "Getting Away With Murder" IS Trent, literally. Rachel is such a great character. *claps hands and bows head for Kim*. She has her own way of doing things, her own set of morals and NO ONE is going to change that. Not only does she do her best at whatever she's doing, she does it out of loyalty and love. I noticed that throughout the series she tries to teach her friends "Do what you feel it right". The song "Life Is Beautiful" by Sixx A.M. (Nikki Sixx's project band, FYI) is a powerful and emotional song that is like a dire conversation between Rachel and Ivy (or Kisten or Ceri). "Just open your eyes and see that life is beautiful. Will you swear on your life that no one will cry at my funeral?" Not only is this the essence of what Rachel repeatedly tries to get across, but it also sums up all the trials and tribulations that Ivy and Ceri had to go through, and what Kisten's last thoughts might have been at the end of "For A Few Demons More". Tantric's "Down and Out" is just an awesome "get back up and kick their ass" song. The story of two or more people struggling to gain a foothold in not only a mutual trust of each other to survive, but find the collective strength to do just that. A great metaphor for those living in the Hollows, Rachel's group namely. I can probably go on for another while, but I promise to return. *evil laughs*.

27 Sep 2008

Think about some songs by The Dresden Dolls that kinda fit: "Bad Habit" for Ivy. "Girl Anachronism" makes me think of Rachel, the way she's always in some scrape or another. and I can totally see Rachel thinking of Nick as she screams along to "Backstabber."

27 Sep 2008

Nice page ;) Kindest Hi Jackie, Now I had more time to read your Homepage Perfect site, i like it! , See you at the latest at Le Mans.

i would like to say that i think the song demonoid phenomonon should be put under newt and i like to think the femal voice in it is her.

25 Sep 2008

Ivy and Rachel ... I think 37 Stitches by Drowning Pool is a real good one. Jenn

25 Sep 2008

'The Science of Selling Yourself Short' by Less Than Jake seems perfect for Rachel. Though dealing with rather angsty themes the song itself is upbeat and cheerful, and the lyrics fit her day to day mishaps and screw ups perfectly.

24 Sep 2008

apcalyptica would be a great band for the hollows

23 Sep 2008

I think "The End Of The Line" By Metallica on Death Magnetic screams AL. "The slave becomes the master, Need more and more, Right now and ever after, Need more and more" Though from Atticus.

22 Sep 2008

Hi I'm new to the series but I'm really liking it. Have you ever thought about any songs from the band Rilo Kiley. Especially Silver Lining and Potions for Foxes?

22 Sep 2008

22 Sep 2008

How about, In Perfect Hamoney by Within Temptation as i think this goes well with jenks and other pixies going about there gardining.

22 Sep 2008

How about The Unforgiven III by metallica, i think i works well for trent and quen. and also It's all coming back to me now by Meat Loaf ft Marion raven, i think it goes well with Rachel mom and takata getting back together after so long.

"Passenger" by Deftones feat. Maynard James Keenan is the most amazing song ever. When my room mate showed it to me, it instantly made me think of Rachel and Ivy during the infamous VAN SCENE inA Fistful of Charms, it sounds as if it were being told from Ivy's P.O.V. Flyleaf's "All Around Me" reminds me of how Rachel feels after losing Kisten. Evanescence's "Like You" also makes me think of how Rachel feels after Kist's death and how she kept being reminded of him. Hope you enjoy, Nikki

I honestly think that Metallica's 'Of wolf and man' better fits David holding the focus if you listen to both lyrics and music; I can imagine David running all wered up with and iPod shuffle clipped to his fur listening to this or maybe 'Moonbaby' by Godsmack or something although he doesn't really have a one love interest (yet) http://rapidshare.com/files/147185907/Moonbaby.mp3.html

21 Sep 2008

This one is a little different from what you usually listen to I guess, but it really captures getting blood sugar'd in a club with happy vamps and they can dance to this too: http://rapidshare.com/files/147194051/Motorcycle_-_As_The_Rush_Comes.mp3.html what do you think, Kim? Grtz, Fem

21 Sep 2008

Have a listen to 'Cruel man' by Intwine; not sure if it fits Piscary of Al more: http://rapidshare.com/files/147186039/Cruel_Man.mp3.html

21 Sep 2008

'Sing for absolution' by Muse has some lyrics that could inspire several storylines but makes me think of Trent mostly. Dunno why tho. Grtz, Fem

21 Sep 2008

Hey, where is David in all this? I think he deserves his own music spot..

20 Sep 2008

i FEEL LIKE FLYLEAF'S "SORROW" FEELS LIKE A GOOD SONG FOR RACHEAL TO LISTEN TO AFTER LOSING KISTEN. EVERY TIME I HEAR IT I THINK OF THEM. STONESOUR "MADE OF SCARES" MAKES ME THINK OF IVY.

15 Sep 2008

not so much a song but a feel for jenks fighting music the sea hawk soundtrack or the adventures of robin hood the errol flynn version also you need to listen to concrete blonde especially bloodletting the vampires song and if you can find it a one shot album called pretty and twisted

For Rachel and Ivy- Running Away by Hoobastank

13 Sep 2008

For Rachel and Takata... Everclear's "Father Of Mine" There wasn't abuse in the relationship they have, but as in the song, he wasn't there when he should have been. Just my POV, though.

13 Sep 2008

Thinking about Rachel, when she's trying to find out what happened the night Kisten died, always brings one song to mind, Within Temptation's "Somewhere" Also, with that jerk Nick, i think of Evanescence's "Last song i'm wasting on you"...his actions realy hurt her, so i'm guessing she felt the same way the as the lyrics.....that is, when she still had feeling for him...after that she'd just want to kick his arse

13 Sep 2008

when i think of ceri trying to help rachel, and trying to release her aura from the demon smut, i can't help but think of Within Temptation's "Pale"

okay, i was originally thinking of ivy and rachel when i heard this song, but i found it fits in well with alot of the characters throughout the series, so far, Evanescence's "The Only One"

13 Sep 2008

a freind of mine suggested Within Temptation's Destroyed for ...Takata? i think ( T_T i can't remember) ...to do with His and Rachel's relationship

13 Sep 2008

this is really not the type of music it seems like you go for, but for ivy "stay away" by the honorary title is absolutely perfect.

11 Sep 2008

"The Kill" by Thirty Seconds To Mars Came across that song again today. Remembering that it isn't the typical break-up song it's usually taken for but a song about a relationship with oneself and confronting the truth about who you really are, it is , for me, a perfect fit for Ivy and her permanent struggle to accept (or not...)who and what she is. 07 Sep 2008

umm... how about 'who i am hates who i've been' by relient k for ivy or even rachel, where it applies... :)~Sashani

05 Sep 2008

Ooo... I suggested in the wrong spot. Sorry *blush* A Few from Emilie Autumn could fall under many but one stands out the most For Ivy 'I want my Innocence back' seemed to have her 'tude http://vampirefreaks.com/eautumn Zombie Girl has a few as well but the one I would think Jenks would end up singing from time to time would be 'Go Zombie' http://vampirefreaks.com/Official-Zombie-Girl ...There is one other "Group" that might turn an Ever-After Ear...but they don't do their own stuff. The take songs and well...creep them out a bit. :) http://vampirefreaks.com/gregorian01 Hope the links are ok sorry if not! *Cold Wet noses* ~Woffie~

For Ivy: "Love Song For A Vampire " by Annie Lennox ;-)Yours sincerely of me. Regine *grin*

03 Sep 2008

I kinda think he Eagles song 'Hotel California' would be a sort of fit to Rachel and her new 'job' after 'Outlaw Demon Wails'. I love the line..."You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave."

02 Sep 2008

Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart - definitly fits Ivy (in relation to Rachel)

01 Sep 2008

"Crush" by jennifer paige for rachel and ivy

31 Aug 2008

I think "Another World" by Beborn Beton is a really good one for the Ivy and Rachel after Kisten died it almost would sound like he was trying to console them after he had died and wanted them to move on. Hope you enjoy....Jadia

31 Aug 2008

Thinking perhaps Lullaby by the Cure for Al. When the line goes " Spider man is having me for dinner tonight" I get images of Al doing his demonic thing. Yeah, I can definitely see Al in that song.

29 Aug 2008

First posting here so a little nervous. But I have to say. For Ivy/Rachel or even just Ivy I think that Nine Inch Nails - Something I Can Never Have is perfect =] Very haunting and tormented,which I believe suits them both well! Kimberley (UK)

For Rachel and Ivy It's my life by Talk Talk

27 Aug 2008

Wings of Steel by Collide reminds me of the everafter with lyrics like "in the middle of darkness, there's a light" "chasing the ghost of time" and "where you aspire-you cannot get there from here" Also by Collide is Halo, which might fit how some see Rachel. (Since you like Garbage & Evanescence, Collide is a short trip down the musical hall.)

27 Aug 2008

I always think of Kisten when I hear the song "Hold You In My Arms" by Ray LaMontagne. (Ironically enough, the album is called "Trouble" and it has a woman blindfolded and dancing with a devil on the cover.) I always picture Rachel grieving whenever I hear this song. (Makes me want to cry too.)

26 Aug 2008

"Snap your fingers, Snap your neck" by Prong for Newt

25 Aug 2008

I'm sure it's been said before but Of Wolf and Man by Metallica for David and Picking Me To Pieces by Ministers Daughter for Ivy. Angelfairy

25 Aug 2008

Lies - Evanescence It's perfect. My friend and I have decided that if the series ever becomes a movie, this should be song for the previews. This song makes me think of Ivy the most - I think. Here are some of the lyrics. They'll never see I'll never be I'll struggle on and on to feed this hunger Burning deep inside of me But through my tears breaks a blinding light Birthing a dawn to this endless night Arms outstretched, awaiting me An open embrace upon a bleeding tree Rest in me and I'll comfort you I have lived and I died for you Abide in me and I vow to you I will never forsake you

25 Aug 2008

"Until The End" and "Breakdown" by Breaking Benjamin would be great additions. Both songs would work well for Rachel!

25 Aug 2008

My Bad, Meant Erica, Alicia Is 1 of my Characters =P

24 Aug 2008

Have a go at the latest Tori Amos album, American Doll Posse, there's loads on it to fit the storyline, in particular the Ivy-Rachel relationship.

23 Aug 2008

4 Marshal & Rachel "Whats your Name"-tinx

Tears of The Moon...by conjour 1... -tinx

22 Aug 2008

Definitely have to have 'Pure Morning' by Placebo for Ivy and Rachel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQQmAP9Poo4

22 Aug 2008

"Virgin State of Mind" by K's Choice -- Ivy in relation to her disparaging herself for giving in. "Just So You Know" by American Head Charge -- Ivy and Rachel. "Friends in Low Places" by Garth Brooks (I usually don't listen to country, but this reminds me of Rachel, and her ability to overcome.)

21 Aug 2008

Every time I hear the song "Control" by Poe, I get this mental image of Ivy, all dressed in leather, crooning to Piscary with an evil little smile on her face. The whole song's at least a little applicable, but there are a few lines that fit so very well: "You thought you could keep me from loving You thought you could feed on my soul But while you were busy destroying my life What was half in me has become whole" "Haunted", also by Poe, also says Ivy to me, though in a more subdued, playing-the-piano-in-the-church-alone kinda way.

21 Aug 2008

Hi. I am a Trench fan I think that It's All the Same by Sick Puppies fits Trent with Rachel as well as Diary of Jane by Breaking Benjamin.

20 Aug 2008

Hey! I've heard a couple of songs which I later found out were on the underworld soundtrack, but they are by Maynard James Keenan's, from Tool, side band Puscifer...Rev 22:20 is so seductive and Undertaker speaks for itself...thanks for listening :) -BelleMorte, Washington :)

20 Aug 2008

Eloise by The Damned -it's going to date me and others who will remember this one but check this band out, it deffinitely belongs in the Hollows- creepy, sexy and omg i have to hunt down the cd right now! It will so finish setting the mood for book 4 yahoo!!!!

20 Aug 2008

Piscary -- Twisted Sister, "The Beast" from their 1984 album, Stay Hungry. Even better is the re-mix version on their re-mixed album, Still Hungry. Jenks -- TinSmith (a couple of albums are on Amazon). They have a song, I think is called, "Little Black Fox" -- about the Devil giving some medieval hunters a run for their money.

20 Aug 2008

Since I born and raised in Cincinnati, I think it would be appropriate for "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns and Roses ( Cincinnati Bengals theme song) for Rachel, Jenks, and the rest of the "crew". This (I think) enbodies what Rachel and the rest feel somedays when they they are up to their necks in trouble. I also think that this is what Rachel envisons her life to be at times.....one big jungle of a mess with no way out. Thanks for your time and the GREAT reading!!!! Tammy Trollope

19 Aug 2008

Choke by Hybrid (Rachel) The beginning is the end is the beginning by smashing pumpkins (Rachel)

18 Aug 2008

Looks like I've got quite a list here... that's 10 minutes I've distracted myself from Jonesing for the next book... :) - Kisten and Rachel: "Arclight" by VNV Nation. - Ivy and Rachel: "Hands Around My Throat" by Death in Vegas. - The Ever-After: "Spider" (and the '8-Legged' mix) by Xorcist (aka DJ Bat, aka Peter Stone). Instrumental and creepy as hell. - Newt: "Armenia" by Einsturzende Neubauten. This is what it sounds like to be insane. - Ivy: "The Pretty Things Are Going To Hell" by David Bowie; "Beauty Never Fades" by Junkie XL. - Rachel vs. Trent: "Control" by Poe. - David: "Dayvan Cowboy" by Boards of Canada. - Jenks: "Lust for Life" by Iggy Pop. - Algaliarept: "Red Right Hand" by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (also the DJ Spooky remix). - General Atmosphere: "Dark" by Gary Numan ('Don't let the light shine on me / I am the demon that waits inside you...'). Rob Dougan's "Furious Angels" album. Xorcist. VNV Nation. NIN of course. Instrumental stuff by Graeme Revell (Red Planet, Pitch Black, The Crow, etc). The "Dark City" score by Trevor Jones. Looks like someone already suggested "When You're Evil" by Voltaire for Big Al. More than a little overdramatic and silly, but still perfect... (As a side note, pretty much all of Voltaire's "Oh My Goth" album carries a bizarre blend of morbid and blackly humorous that would fit the world of the Hollows, especially "The Vampire Club".)

17 Aug 2008

Victory by Bond for Jenks and Pixies in general. It's all instrumental and has the right mix of their seriousness and playfulness! Also, Violet by Bones Domingo (also instumental).

17 Aug 2008

Kim, PLEASE listen to the song "Somebody" by Depeche Mode. I swear it is perfect. For both Ivy and Rach.This song is an unattainable check list for friends and lovers both. Hope you enjoy zoe1canobe P.S. go to lyricsfreak.com You should really read the lyrics before hearing the actual song!

16 Aug 2008

For Al Scissor Sisters 'I Can't Decide'

15 Aug 2008

Have you checked out the Goo Goo Dolls or Counting Crows? Anna Begins by The Counting Crows reminds me of Ivy. Long Way Down by the Goo Goo Dolls fits Rachel. Okay, I know you've already listed Sympathy For The Devil for Piscary, but the Stones version brings to mind Al for me; especially after seeing the new video..here's the link:http://music.aol.com/video/sympathy-for-the-devil/the-rolling-stones/1103895 As for Ivy's struggle for Rachel Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones is so perfect it almost seems written for them. I have more, but don't want to overwhelm you with my extensive list. Hope you like my choices! Heather

15 Aug 2008

Well, unlike most my musical tastes Vary so you may raise an eyebrow or 3.. When I was reading the 1st Hot And Steamy scene with Kisten and Rachel (The 1 on the couch and airing out the church) I was Listening to "Beautiful" By Ferry Corsten from his L.e.f. Album (God It SO Worked!) Also Not to many people Comment on her But i've Kept My Eye on Ivy's Little Sister, Cat's Delicacy By Yoko Kanno actually Showed me how Bright,Cheerfull,nonstop & Upbeat she is (Seriously Try it out) I believe you can find that particular song on the Esceflowne Soundtrack. (Yes i'm an Otaku as well =P ) The Floridian In The Leather Duster

15 Aug 2008

I can think of a couple of songs - Wolf and Man - Metallica - David, Love Like Winter - AFI - Rachel and her relationships with Ivy and Kisten, Vampires - Godsmack - Ivy/Kisten, House of Wolves - Kisten - the resident bad boy, just his views on things. He never said he was a good boy, Fine Again - Seether - Rachel after Kisten's death or even Nick's betrayl, Sin with a Grin - Kisten and how Piscary makes him feel.

15 Aug 2008

Two songs which i think fit, both for Ivy. First is 45 by Shinedown, the second is Into Oblivion (Reunion) by Funeral for a Friend, which seems suited for Ivy and her view on Rachel

13 Aug 2008

I found a realy lovely song, i can't quite decide who it should go with...i'll let you decide ;] Xandria - eversleeping O_o the lead singer of this band would make a brilliant Rachel...she even has beautiful bright red curly hair

13 Aug 2008

Ivy and Rachel together: Deftones - Change (in the house of flies)

13 Aug 2008

Ceri makes me thing of flutes, panpipes...andgel music. That sort of thing. And i thought of her when i listened to Haley Westenra's "Prayer" and also when listening to Within Temptation's "Jilian" and "Pale"

13 Aug 2008

omg, just heard the perfect song for Ivy. and the band's style makes me think of the hollows books. Xandria - Vampire

12 Aug 2008

Check out the song "Be My Druidess" by Type O Negative from their October Rust CD. Very sensual, almost surreal. Like the state of mind you achieve when being romantic with the love of your life and when it's over, you have that bizarre feeling like you're finally coming up for air and crossing over from some magical realm back to the real world.

11 Aug 2008

IVY - Believe by the Bravery

10 Aug 2008

for David: Ozzy Osbourne - Bark at the moon

10 Aug 2008

Every time I hear "Poison" By Tarja Turunen (former Nightwish lead singer) I think of Ivy and Rachel

10 Aug 2008

for Ivy Dig by Incubus

08 Aug 2008

- Black Label Society's "Refuse to bow down" for Rachel when she is fixed on nailing Al's ass. - Black Label Society's "Bridge to cross" for Rachel when she feels guilty about Peter and Kisten / and when she is re-thinking her life and her "good and bad descisions" - Assemblage 23's "Lullaby" for Rachel when she is kind of lost and feels overwhelmed - NiN's "Perfect Drug" for Ivy when she thinks of Rachel - Black Sabbath's "NIB" for Piscary and Ivy / Piscary and Kisten - The Vision Bleak's "Wolfmoon" for David when it's a full moon - D.A.D.'s "Sleeping my day away" for all the inderlanders - Deathstars's "Virtue to vice" for all the vamps - Edgar winter group's "Free Ride" for jenks. The feel good vibe of the song just feels like jenks. - Flyleaf's "I'm so sick" has a very demon feel to it. Both Rachel's feelings to the whole demon situation in her life and also a bit from the demons point of view. - Kidney Thieves' "Before i'm dead" just screams Ivy to me. - Jonny Lang's "Give me up again" for Rachel and Nick. From rachel's point of view of course. - Jimi Hendrix's "Fire" for Rachel and Kisten - The Birthday Massacre's "Blue" for Ceri. Especially the changes in the song from soft to hard seem to fit her softer and harder side. - Megadeth's "Trust" for Rachel and Nick - NIN's "Everyday is exactly the same" to me has a Trent feel to it. The face he has to hide, the part of him that is not free to do as he likes. - Machines of loving grace's "Golgotha tenement blues" has always had a very seductive feel to me. Maybe someone under a vamps spell. - The Phantom of the opera "wishing you were somehow here again" for Rachel and Kisten - W.A.S.P.'s "The Manimal" for David when the moon is full - Hardcore Superstar's "Dreamin' in a casket" for Piscary SPOILER (perhaps for those who haven't read an outlaw demon wails yet) - Epica's "Run for a fall" for Rachel and Takata / for Alice Morgan and Takata. For the anger that is there. The darker side of those relationships. - KMFDM's "Save Me" for Rachel in the book An Outlaw Demon Wails. The song seems appropriate for everything she goes through. Soooo I think that is everything I can think off at the moment. I will at more songs when they come to mind! Love, Desiree from the Netherlands

06 Aug 2008

For Ivy (with Piscary) Apocalyptica S.O.S (anything but love)

06 Aug 2008

Hey y'all,it's Tim Nightfire with another song you all need to listen . For Ivy,Bury your dead,Magnolia. For rachel,,'A perfect Murder',Strength Through Vengance.

05 Aug 2008

For Takata.. for some reason I thought Schism by Tool instantly, dark with a lot of undertones.

04 Aug 2008

For Ivy (with or without Rachel) - Forsaken by David Draiman from The Queen of the Damned Soundtrack

03 Aug 2008

Well, I read your Holidays are Hell story, and I was listening to a song by Within Temptation called "Overcome" and I thought it suited a teenaged Rachel perfectly.

03 Aug 2008

I'd say All Around Me by Flyleaf is perfect for Ivy, and what she feels for Rache. -> My hands are searching for you My arms are outstretched towards you I feel you on my fingertips My tongue dances behind my lips for you This fire rising through my being Burning I'm not used to seeing you I'm alive, I'm alive I can feel you all around me Thickening the air I'm breathing Holding on to what I'm feeling Savoring this heart that's healed My hands float up above me And you whisper you love me And I begin to fade Into our secret place The music makes me sway The angels singing say we are alone with you I am alone and they are too with you And so I cry The light is white And I see you I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive I can feel you all around me Thickening the air I'm breathing Holding on to what I'm feeling Savoring this heart that's healing Take my hand I give it to you Now you owe me All I am You said you would never leave me I believe you I believe I can feel you all around me Thickening the air I'm breathing Holding on to what I'm feeling Savoring this heart that's healed

02 Aug 2008

Burning bright - Shinedown Not sure if its been mentioned or not but great song and it fits Rachael well.

02 Aug 2008

Just a thought, but I think Robert Palmer's "She Makes My Day" sums up Ivy's feelings toward Rachel.

01 Aug 2008

Another Black Day "Wicked Soul" works well for Ivy or Rachel Also Ra "Broken Hearted Soul"

31 Jul 2008

Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" for Rache and Ivy. :)

30 Jul 2008

07/30/08 Jethro Tull - Songs From the Woods This a magical peice for a magical place

29 Jul 2008

I think that Papa Roach pretty much sums it up. Any of their songs can relate to any ofthe characters or places in this series. I love them! x]Cat

29 Jul 2008

While I have to completely agree with your choices for Jeff Buckley; you cannot forget his version of "Halleluhia" for the album "Grace." The soft, almost prayer like beginning leading into the heavier, not quite crescendo and then fading off with the last two impossibly long notes. No matter where I am or what kind of mood I'm in, that song always ends in goosbumbs. Ryan from MN

27 Jul 2008

Rin's "Sea of Tranquility" would be Ivy's song to Rachel, if Rachel gave her a chance. Tim

25 Jul 2008

Newt: Artist: Alan Parsons Album: The Turn Of A Friendly Card Year: 1980 Title: Time Time, flowing like a river Time, beckoning me Who knows when we shall meet again If ever But time Keeps flowing like a river To the sea Goodbye my love, Maybe for forever Goodbye my love, The tide waits for me Who knows when we shall meet again If ever But time Keeps flowing like a river (on and on) To the sea, to the sea Till it's gone forever Gone forever Gone forevermore Goodbye my friends, Maybe forever Goodbye my friends, The stars wait for me Who knows where we shall meet again If ever But time Keeps flowing like a river (on and on) To the sea, to the sea Till it's gone forever Gone forever Gone forevermore

Minias: Korn - Freak on a Leash; Sting - Dessert Rose; Newt: Beck - Devils Haircut; Minias & Newt together: Haunted - Evanescence Al: Kamelot - Descent of the Archangel; Godsmack - I stand Alone; NIN - Closer David: Of Wolf and Man Ever After: Enya - Ever After Theme Rachel and Big Al: ACDC - Hells Bells (common thing between them, Rachel ringing the bells in the ever after) Ivy & Rachel: Chicago - You're the Inspiration; Marc Anthony - I've Got You; Rachel: Is This Real - Practical Magic OST - Lisa Hall; http://www.darklyrics.com/index.html just a reference for you.

23 Jul 2008

I also have a few Three Days grace songs. 'Animal I Have Become' seems to hit Ivy perfectly when she's trying to control her whole Vampire side. I think 'Gone Forever.' fits well with Rachael about her thoughts for Nick. I believe that's about it. -Julia

23 Jul 2008

'It's not my time.' Could fit. It somewhat reminded me of Ivy. Parts of it made me think 'Maybe this is how she was thinking when she thought Piscary had killed her.' And other parts remind me of her persistance to keep her life and dreams and not become just another Vampire. -Julia

23 Jul 2008

Listen to the albums Just Visting and Just Visiting Part 2 by Cog. bondi and the truth and other lies makes me think of Ivy and Rachel.

23 Jul 2008

Hey I was randomly listening to Evanesence and I listened to one of her songs called Listen(to the rain) its in the form of a choir singing about the rains"song" and since Jenks and his family are so intune with nature I suddenly thought of Jenks' 50 million kids singing this with their dad conducting. I encourge you to take a listen and see if you feel the same.

23 Jul 2008

I'm a huge They Might Be Giants fan, and while most of the music you listen to here seems like rock, and kinda edgy, a lot of TMBG have this sad bittersweetness to it even if the song itself sounds bright and peppy. It took me a while to realize that a good portion of their songs were about breakups. Lucky Ball & Chain for Nick. Cyclops Rock for Ivy. Hopeless Bleak Despair for Ivy. I know there's more, and it's not music that most people listen to, although I'd also recommend Don't Let's Start as well, likely for Nick/Rachel, but... it's interesting quirky music. Something a pixie might like, I'd imagine.

23 Jul 2008

For Ivy and maybe Rachel, Papa Roach's To Be Loved.

22 Jul 2008

shinedown breaking inside fits well when rachel takes the were curse into herself

19 Jul 2008

I know others have said this song, but I had to tell this: I was reading "Few Demons More" today in the car and I just got to Ivy laying on the big one and "I kissed a girl" came on the radio at just that perfect second. I laughed so hard I think my hubby thought I was having a fit or something.

19 Jul 2008

Evanescence's "October" is perfect for Rachel and her relationships with her closest friends....

19 Jul 2008

"Won't Go Home Without You" by Maroon 5 reminds me about Kisten and Rachel a lot. t's a really sweet song that matches their situation at first. "Famous Last Word" by My Chemical Romance is totally Rachel when she is in badass mode. -Cat

19 Jul 2008

For Rachel - Twisted Transistor, i thnk of her every time i hear it

19 Jul 2008

Piscary = Tiny Vessals by Death Cab for Cutie.

18 Jul 2008

I thought The Cranberries Dreams for Ivy and Between the bars Elliot Smith for Mineas and Newt

17 Jul 2008

I think Pop Evil's song Hero is Rachels song to Nick. You just have to listen to it and you can hear all of her feelings toward him in it.Its crazy insane

13 Jul 2008

I think that "Judith" by A Perfect Circle is a perfect song for Big Al. The song is just...creepy and totally demonish, in a sexy way. Um, OH! Limp Bizkit's "Break Stuff" reminds me of a lot of characters actually. Sometimes its Ivy, with her anger and hate for herself. Other times its Mr. Jenks, who seems to always be pissed off at someone. "Chapter Four" by Avenged Sevenfold sort of makes me think of David for some reason. Especially after he takes on the Focus. Um, yeah. Thats all I can think of for now. But I will totally be sending in more suggestions! You can never have to much music. Rock on. -Cat

12 Jul 2008

Flogging Molly "The Worst Day Since Yesterday" Pops into my mind everytime Rachel Hammered by her world.

11 Jul 2008

I have a couple if you don't mind....The Cross by Within Temptation for Ivy, and Snow White Queen by Evanescence, for Ivy and Rachel. =)- Michelle

11 Jul 2008

A great song that reminds me of Ivy and her past troubles, and some of her present, is "Walk Away" by Christina Augilera.

10 Jul 2008

For Ivy & Rachel - Corrs: Love to Love You

09 Jul 2008

Ah, for Ivy to rachel. Wide Open Space, Mansun. Check it out.

08 Jul 2008

Sorry Ivy...but Beast and the Harlot by Avenged Sevenfold fits you in GBU...

08 Jul 2008

The Right kind of wrong by Leann Rimes I think screams Rachel and Kisten. Its not the song itself, its the lyrics. Listen to it and sums up Rachels feelings for Kisten perfectly. Read the lyrics and you'll see what i mean.

08 Jul 2008

every bodys song to rachel when moving in with ivy Rev 2220 by puscifer

08 Jul 2008

headstron by trapt

08 Jul 2008

i think this song so screams rachel believe by staind its just one of those songs that hits your core>>>>>Jenn in TN<<<<<<

08 Jul 2008

I have a pretty good Idea for Jenks, this song is a more calm side of him. Picture him looking out the window, staring at the rain. Hes so in tune with nature. I heard this song and thought of him watching the rain lightly sprinkle his garden. 'Listen (to each drop of rain')- Evanesence.

07 Jul 2008

Whenever I read one of your books lately I seem to think of songs by Asrai, Bloodflowerz, Tiamat, Chevelle, Collide, Curve, In This Moment, Hanzel und Gretyl and Gary Numan.

06 Jul 2008

he he!I was listening to Who I Am Hates Who I've Been by Relient K. and thought of Ivy in a way Blow me away by Breaking Benjiman seems to suit Big Al ...yay cake

06 Jul 2008

Okay so I was listening to the radio this morning on the way to church and I heard Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" and all I could think was this is what Ivy hopes Rachael will one day feel like. Zach

06 Jul 2008

for kisten and rachel Tattoo by Jordan sparks

06 Jul 2008

i think that the new linkin park and busta rymes song "Together We made it" is a song that suits for Ivy, Rachel, and Jenks. i feel this way because it's been the three of them since the beginning and they have stuck together no matter what obsticles were thrown at them. i also think that linkin parks "Numb" fits in when they re trying to figure out a blood balance with Ivy and Rachel because Rachel wants and it Ivy is afraid to give in to her because she doesn't want to hurt her so she becomes numb.

06 Jul 2008

Just one comment on your comment about REV 22:20 by Puscifer. I actually see the Dry Martini Mix more as the relationship between them. It's more seductive and gets your blood thrumming in that oh so special way.

04 Jul 2008

I can't tell you how freakishly gleeful I was to see that your Muses have their own music! I'm a writer as well, yet no one gets it when I claim I have "songs" for my characters. Oh, I have a few for Al. You seem like a rocker girl yourself, so you might dig a few of these! "Meaning of Life" ~ Disturbed (Give in, give in, decide...XD) "Shadow Zone" ~Static X (sort of ever-after-ish) "From the Inside" by Def Leppard (some of it) "When You're Evil" ~ Voltaire (this one is just amusing) "No, You Don't" by Nine Inch Nails seems to fit someone, but I haven't figured out who. Damn good song to write to, though. ;)

I reckon 'Bleed it Out' by Linkin Park fits Ivy's 'relationship' with Piscary. Man I hate that vamp.

"To be Free" by Emiliana Torrini for Ceri. It's got this lilting melody with a sort of off kilter beat that's just a little exotic sounding. And the lyrics really seem to fit her ... It shouldn't hurt me to be free, It's what I really need to pull myself together. But if it's so good being free would you mind telling me Why I don't know what to do with myself?

I don't really like Panix! At the Disco much but when I was flipping through channels I came across one of their music videos. "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" and it totally blew me away. If you listen to that song and think about when Al showed up at Trent's wedding, you'd be amazed about how well it goes with the story. It's crazy. Also, anythign by Flyleaf reminds me of Ceri.

Rachel's experience with her dad (and more recently Quen) really made me think of 'What Sarah Said', by Death Cab for Cutie.

Metallica: "Master of puppets" for Piscary

Godsmack: "Spiral"  for the Hollows.

Rammstein: "Engel" (Angel) "Los "(-Less) are interesting takes on the Ever After

the pierces: "three wishes" (ivy) "kill! kill! kill!" (rachel)

ever-after Coheed and Cambria:  "Welcome Home"
