I flew out to Minneapolis this October for ARCANA, a fantastic SF/Horror convention in MN.

It was an adventure getting there between the weather, flight cancellations, and an unexpected stint circling the airport until the vice Pres of the US left.  But eventually we landed and I got to the signing at DreamHaven.

DreamHaven Minneapolis, MN

I felt so bad about getting to the signing so late.  The people waiting had been so patient, and they looked so tired!  I skipped the reading and went right to the Q & A, and had a great time.

It's hard to see, but he's got an OUTLAW TOUR shirt, and she's got Tinkerbelle!  I sort of recognized them, but every time I say "I've seen you before," they look at me and say they hadn't.  (grin)

Loved the smiles here, and if I remember right, there was a burning bunny involved . . .

Another die-hard reader who came out to see me.

Thanks, guys!  It was great to see you there!  I'm hoping I get back during a release next year.  Fingers crossed!

ARCANA, 2009

ARCANA is a fantastic, small conference where the emphasis is on the fantastic and horror.  They try to pick a monster every year to celebrate, and this year, there were two: dragons and witches.  The camera was in the hotel room for my first panel on dragons, but I remembered it for the second, which was basically, "What are you reading?"  Here I am flapping my lips.  ;-)

There was also a reading, Q&A, and a chance for me to sign books that same day.

A few familiar faces that it was wonderful to see again!

I think they are looking at my  burning bunny bus tokens, here.  (grin)  I know they look like cats on fire.  That's why I stopped trying to be a visual artist and focused on writing.  (laugh)

The day was rounded out with pizza and a movie (American Werewolf in London) and an auction where Guy again proved he is his parent's son.  (rolls eyes)  To be honest, he did really well at not filling my suitcase with stuff to bring home.  I'm so proud of him.  (grin)

The second day was more panels

Here I am with Cynthia, Roy, and Eric as we talk about witches in fact, folklore, film and fiction.

It was followed by a panel on urban fantasy, what it is and what we like and don't like where I got a chance to tell everyone who I enjoy reading and why.

I'm here with Sybil, Catherine, and Thomas.

Afterward was the post-conference dinner, where I didn't bring my camera.  Some things, you just have to be there for. . .  ;-)  Thanks, guys!  I had tons of fun!
